GTA 6 Criminal Profile is Rockstar’s name for its new system that tracks how violently you commit crimes — effectively Red Dead Redemption 2’s honour system, confirmed in an interview with IGN and reported by GameSpot. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson detailed the mechanic alongside the return of the classic Wanted system.
Nelson frames it around the story of a couple on the run. Commit the crime, leave before the police arrive, keep the shooting minimal, and you are generally fine. Escalate, and the game takes note. It is not a system for turning Jason and Lucia into do-gooders — it is a tracker of how violently and maliciously you choose to commit crimes.

The profile sways in one direction or another based on persistent behaviour, from unnecessary violence down to littering. Do the unnecessary stuff consistently and the game reacts.

It builds on the systems Rockstar showed in the Netflix Extended Look, where eating, exercising and sleep shape Jason and Lucia day to day. The Criminal Profile extends the same logic to the couple’s criminal conduct.
The Wanted system returns
The traditional Wanted system is back. A crime has to be witnessed, or an alarm set off, for it to be reported to the law.
