From the Ashes: The Pit Trailer Teases Harrowing Schoolyard Disaster Drama on Netflix
From the Ashes: The Pit

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for From the Ashes: The Pit, a follow-up to Saudi drama From the Ashes that pushes its young heroines into an even more literal and emotional abyss. Picking up after the tragic school fire from the first film, the new chapter focuses on how guilt, distance and buried secrets reshape a once-tight friendship circle — until a freak accident traps three girls underground and forces the truth to the surface.

The film premieres January 22, only on Netflix, and should land on the streamer here in the UAE alongside other regional launches.  While you wait, you can keep an eye on our always-updated New on Netflix UAE hub and the weekly roundup at What to Watch This Week UAE.

A Story About Friendship, Guilt and Second Chances

From the Ashes: The Pit is described as a gripping drama inspired by true events, centred on fractured friendships, hidden truths and the “magic of second chances”.

The film catches up with Mona (Aseel Morya), Mashael (Moudi Abdullah) and Heba (Wafa Al Wafi) as they try to move on from the fire that once bonded them. Their lives now are shaped by shifting loyalties, unspoken pain and the long emotional shadow of that day.

Once inseparable, they’ve grown apart — a gap widened by the arrival of new girl Maria (Aseel Seraj), whose polished image hides the disruption she brings into the group.  The trailer leans into that tension: side-eyes in the hallway, strained small talk, and the sense that nobody is saying what they actually feel.

A Schoolyard Collapse That Forces the Truth Out

Things come to a head during a confrontation in the schoolyard as a rainstorm rolls in. In the middle of the argument, the ground literally gives way, sending Mona, Mashael and Maria tumbling into a hidden pit beneath the school.

Down there, water begins to rise. With no easy way out, fear and guilt start to flood in alongside it. Old grievances and long-buried truths surface as the girls are forced to face:

  • what really broke their bond
  • what each of them is carrying from the fire
  • and what it would take to forgive themselves and each other

The film is framed as a story about healing and rebuilding, showing how friendships can bend, break and slowly mend — and how even in the darkest moments, there is room for unexpected strength, empathy and connection.

Cast and Crew: New Faces, Familiar Themes

Behind the camera, From the Ashes: The Pit brings together a regional creative team:

  • Producers: Ayman Jamal and Muhammad Alawi
  • Director: Abdullah Bamajboor
  • Writers: Haifa al Said and Maryam Al Hajri

In front of the camera, the film stars:

  • Moudi Abdullah
  • Aseel Morya
  • Aseel Seraj
  • Wafa Al Wafi
  • Adhwa Fahad
  • Darin AlBayed
  • Aisha AlRifai

The first From the Ashes film was praised for mixing young Saudi talent with a high-school thriller set-up and a true-events backdrop.  The Pit looks set to carry that forward, but with a tighter, more contained survival hook.

When and Where You Can Watch From the Ashes: The Pit in the UAE

According to Netflix’s announcement, From the Ashes: The Pit premieres January 22, only on Netflix

Once it lands, you’ll find it under Netflix’s growing slate of Saudi and Middle Eastern dramas, which already includes the original From the Ashes.  You’ll be able to stream it via the Netflix app on smart TVs, phones, tablets, consoles and browsers, with support for offline downloads on compatible devices.

For UAE viewers building their January watchlist, it’s worth bookmarking our New on Netflix UAE page — we’ll slot From the Ashes: The Pit into that hub as it goes live, alongside other new Arabic and international releases.

Why From the Ashes: The Pit Belongs On Your Watchlist

If you’re into grounded teen dramas with a thriller edge, From the Ashes: The Pit looks like one to watch out for:

  • It continues a story already rooted in a real-world tragedy, now with a more intimate survival setup.
  • The cast brings together rising regional talent, with characters who are allowed to be messy, angry and vulnerable rather than perfect.
  • The central question — can you forgive yourself and your friends after the worst thing that ever happened to you? — feels universal, even as the setting stays very specific.

We’ll be including From the Ashes: The Pit in our upcoming What to Watch This Week UAE round-ups once it’s out, so check back there if you want quick-hit verdicts and more Netflix picks to pair it with.
