Xbox has made it official: Forza Horizon 6 arrives on PS5 on 26 January 2027, the same month the game’s first paid expansion launches on every platform. The date confirms the leak we reported yesterday and makes the PS5 version a slip from the 2026 window Xbox repeated as recently as September.

In an announcement on Forza.net, the team said pre-orders are open on the PlayStation Store. The Standard and Deluxe editions release on 26 January. Premium Edition owners get early access from 21 January, five days ahead. A disc release is planned at supporting retailers, and the PS5 port is developed by Panic Button, the studio behind the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5, working with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios.

Every PS5 pre-order, whatever the edition, includes a pre-tuned Ferrari J50. It lands in your garage once you finish the prologue. Players who already own the game on Xbox or Steam can buy a Premium Upgrade to cover the expansions. The upgrade requires the base game, and Expansion 2 has no date yet.

Expansion and free update

The first Premium Expansion arrives on 21 January 2027 on all platforms, so Xbox and PC players aren’t left waiting for the PS5 launch. It’s included in the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, and it’s also sold separately. The studio hasn’t said what the expansion contains. A free content update for all players will launch alongside the PS5 release, with details promised closer to the date.

Forza Horizon 6 first launched on Xbox and PC on 15 May, according to The Verge, and Playground Games has since added features such as Drift Attack. The PS5 version supports cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, and user-created content is shared across platforms from day one. That covers EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, Liveries and Tuning Setups.

Performance

The pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in a 4K 30fps Quality mode, and the team confirmed a 60fps Performance mode will also be available. It didn’t give resolution targets for the Performance mode or any PS5 Pro details.

The delay looks deliberate. Bundling the PS5 launch with an expansion gives the port a bigger moment than a standalone release would, and pre-order incentives are already in place. Playground Games has also said it wants to talk to players more, and a dated roadmap helps with that.

When does Forza Horizon 6 launch on PS5?

The Standard and Deluxe editions release on 26 January 2027. Premium Edition owners can start playing on 21 January.

Can I play with friends on Xbox or PC?

Yes. The PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, and community-created content is shared across all three.

Do I need the Premium Edition for the expansion?

No. The first expansion is sold separately for all platforms, though the Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade include it at no extra cost.
