Dyson unveils PencilVac and next-gen cleaning tech in Berlin
TL;DR
  • PencilVac leads with a 38 mm format and a 140k RPM motor.
  • V8 Cyclone gets more suction and runtime; V16 adds wet cleaning and a larger, compacting bin.
  • Clean+Wash Hygiene removes filter maintenance from the dirty-water path.

James Dyson rolled into Berlin and rolled out 11 products. Headline act: PencilVac, billed as the world’s slimmest vacuum at 38 mm. Also on stage: a refreshed V8 Cyclone, a power-dense V16 Piston Animal with wet cleaning, a filter-free hard-floor cleaner, an AI robot that spots and rechecks stains, a compact purifier designed to be quiet, updated fans and heaters, and new pro-grade hair tools. UAE buyers should expect staged availability.

What Dyson announced at a glance

Dyson introduced new formats and upgrades across cleaning, air and hair care.

  • 11 products shown; some on sale now, others coming soon
  • PencilVac claims a 38 mm diameter with a new 140k RPM motor
  • V8 Cyclone gains more suction and runtime; hot-swappable battery
  • V16 Piston Animal adds wet cleaning and a larger, compacting bin
  • Clean+Wash Hygiene removes filter faff for hard floors
  • Spot+Scrub AI robot identifies and rechecks stains, then cleans them
  • HushJet Purifier Compact targets quiet, whole-room airflow
  • Supersonic hair dryer and Airwrap Co-anda 2x lead hair care updates

Dyson framed the event as a format rethink: smaller, lighter, and more efficient machines built around new motors, separation systems and airflow control.

PencilVac: the 38 mm “world’s slimmest” vacuum

Dyson is going after weight and reach with a vacuum that’s as slim as a thick marker.

  • 38 mm body with dual green “laser-like” dust lights
  • New Hyperdymium 140k RPM motor, about the size of a 2 Euro coin
  • Linear separation compacts debris; 0.08 L bin holds “5x” more when compressed
  • Four conical fluffy brush bars with two centre drive motors

PencilVac aims to clean in any direction, including sideways and under low furniture. The hygienic syringe-style ejection wipes the shroud as you empty, and the conical brush bars auto-shed hair and thread. It is Dyson’s most aggressive push toward smaller hardware without giving up suction.

Cordless vacuums: V8 Cyclone and V16 Piston Animal

Two stick vacuums split by power and features.

  • V8 Cyclone: 30% more suction (to 150 AW), up to 60 minutes runtime, hot-swappable battery, triggerless power button, three modes, self-empty dock slated for 2026
  • V16 Piston Animal: 315 AW with a next-gen 900 W motor, CleanCompaktor bin holding up to 30 days of dust, All Floor Cones Sense head, anti-tangle conical bars, Submarine 2.0 wet roller, self-empty dock in 2026

For homes in the UAE, the V8 Cyclone suits lighter weekly cleans and smaller flats, while the V16 Piston Animal targets villas and pet hair, featuring wet pickup and stain handling capabilities via the upgraded Submarine head. Both retain Dyson’s familiar accessories and aim to minimise maintenance requirements.

Hard floors and autonomy: Clean+Wash Hygiene and Spot+Scrub AI

Dyson is taking a shot at filter smells and robot faff.

  • Clean+Wash Hygiene: no filter in the dirty-water path; denser, ultra-absorbent microfibre roller with nylon bristles; 3.8 kg body; self-clean cycle
  • Spot+Scrub AI robot: AI camera with green illumination, nearly 200 object classes recognised, before-and-after stain verification, 12-point hydration for the wet roller, bagless dock, MyDyson app mapping and targeted cleans

If you hate rinsing gunky filters, Clean+Wash Hygiene keeps dirty water isolated in the head to avoid odours and clogs. The robot leans on vision and repetition: it checks a mark, cleans it, then verifies removal, passing again until it’s gone, while steering around cables and socks.

Air, cooling and hair: quieter purifiers, smarter fans, pro-grade styling

Beyond floors, Dyson had updates for bedrooms, lounges and bathrooms.

  • HushJet Purifier Compact: high flow at 44 dB max and 24 dB in Sleep mode, a third of the size yet up to 80% of Big+Quiet’s capacity, captures 99.97% of 0.3-micron pollutants
  • Cool CF1 fan and Hot+Cool HF1 heater: app-connected control, new Sleep modes, brushless DC motors, faster heating and lower noise
  • Supersonic hair dryer: 38 mm body, laminar-flow heater, instant cool shots, RFID-aware attachments
  • Airwrap Co-anda 2x: stronger motor, 6-in-1 styling with no heat damage messaging
  • Omega nourishing range: hair oil and leave-in spray using omega-rich oils, including sunflower from Dyson’s farms; follows last year’s Chitosan range

For UAE users, the compact purifier’s low noise and small footprint make it ideal for bedrooms and study spaces, while the hair tools reflect the brand’s commitment to heat control and speed. Regional sales details will flow through Dyson’s newsroom.

FAQs

When will these products be available in the UAE?

Dyson says some are available now and others are coming soon. UAE timing typically appears on Dyson’s regional newsroom and retail channels. Keep an eye on the Dyson Newsroom for local details.

Is PencilVac actually powerful enough, given its size?

Dyson pairs a 140k RPM motor with a new linear separation system and compaction. The cleaner head features four conical bars with twin drives to maintain pickup and automatically shed hair. It’s designed to glide and clean in multiple directions.

What’s new about the robot versus older Dyson models?

The Spot+Scrub AI robot recognises nearly 200 object types, checks stains with before-and-after imaging, and repeats passes until removal. It also manages hydration for the wet roller and empties into a cyclonic, bagless dock.
