TL;DR
  • Independent benchmarks show faster speeds and zero dropped calls indoors compared to other UAE providers.
  • du has upgraded indoor coverage across key areas like malls, offices, and homes across the UAE.
  • You get faster uploads/downloads and clearer calls with no drops.

If you use your phone indoors a lot – at home, in a mall, or at work – du might just be your best bet now. According to the latest independent benchmark test, du has taken the top spot for indoor mobile speeds across the UAE.

du’s indoor network gets a big upgrade

An independent benchmark has ranked du as the UAE’s best for indoor mobile performance. That means faster downloads, quicker uploads, and more reliable calls indoors.

  • 79% faster indoor download speeds
  • 49% faster indoor upload speeds
  • Zero dropped voice calls
  • 100% call setup success rate

The company has invested heavily in upgrading its indoor infrastructure. Whether you’re streaming, video calling, or simply trying to upload a file, du wants that experience to be smooth and fast, especially inside buildings where the signal can often be compromised.

Why indoor performance matters more now

People in the UAE spend most of their time indoors, particularly during the summer. du’s focus on indoor performance directly targets where customers actually use their phones most.

  • More time spent indoors in homes, offices and malls
  • Higher demand for consistent speeds indoors
  • Increased reliance on mobile video calls and uploads

With these usage patterns in mind, du’s zero per cent call drop rate and 100 per cent call setup success rate mean fewer frustrations and clearer calls.

Network investment is paying off

du says it has put serious money into its infrastructure. It didn’t just improve speeds; the company also focused on making the whole experience more stable.

  • Seamless mobile experience indoors
  • Faster downloads and uploads
  • Clearer and uninterrupted voice calls

For people who use mobile broadband as their primary internet connection, especially in shared flats or work-from-home setups, these upgrades make a significant difference.

The Lego Game Boy set isn’t meant to actually pl The Lego Game Boy set isn’t meant to actually play games. But that didn’t stop Natalie The Nerd.

She modded her $59.99 Lego kit to boot up real cartridges like Pokémon Red and 1989’s Tetris, and even got the screen to display the game intros. The buttons are fully pressable.

It’s not for sale, but it does show how far a little creativity (and a lot of soldering) can go.

Meanwhile, the official Lego version just includes fake cartridges for Mario and Zelda and a lenticular “screen” that makes it look like you’re playing.

Real or fake, one thing’s for sure: this set hits peak nostalgia.

Sora, OpenAI’s new invite-only video platform, i Sora, OpenAI’s new invite-only video platform, is already pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and what’s ethical.

You’re not allowed to deepfake real, living public figures on the app (unless they’ve given permission via the Cameo feature)…
But dead celebrities? That’s a different story.

AI-generated videos of Michael Jackson, Tupac, Malcolm X, and even Bob Ross are circulating on Sora and OpenAI says that’s allowed. Historical figures are fair game.

There are also AI versions of fictional icons like Mario and SpongeBob popping up, which could open the door to future IP lawsuits.

Every video gets watermarked, but that doesn’t stop the unease. Not everyone is okay with seeing Malcolm X in a video doing something he never would’ve approved of.

Heads-up for Gmail users who fetch emails from oth Heads-up for Gmail users who fetch emails from other accounts:

Starting January 1, Gmail will no longer support POP3, the protocol some users rely on to pull emails from third-party inboxes into Gmail.

That means Gmail won’t fetch your old Yahoo or Outlook inbox unless it uses IMAP instead.

Google says POP3 is outdated and insecure and that it doesn’t support encryption or two-factor authentication.

The good news: IMAP is still supported. But it might be mobile-only for now

If this affects you, consider forwarding emails or checking if your provider supports IMAP.
