Pearl Abyss renamed a free update rather than sold it: Crimson Desert is now Crimson Desert Enhanced, and the upgrade is available now to anyone who already owns the game. Announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August, it arrives as version 2.00.00 — no paid tier, no separate purchase.
What’s new in the Crimson Desert Enhanced update
The headline addition is new cutscenes and story moments woven through the main questline. Story pacing was the game’s most consistent criticism at launch, and the studio flagged the work back in June, when it said it was refining the narrative flow of Kliff’s journey.

The update also expands language support. Voice-over now covers German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese, and the interface and subtitles gain Arabic — the localisation UAE players will actually notice. Language packs download through each platform’s settings, then switch in the game’s Language and Audio menu.
Every post-launch update shipped since March is folded into 2.00.00, so returning players get the full picture in one download. For anyone who has not bought in, the announcement is paired with a 20% discount across PlayStation, Xbox and PC storefronts.
Crimson Desert launched on 19 March and passed six million copies within its first three months. The first paid DLC is still coming later this year, and a Switch 2 version is expected in the first half of 2027. Pearl Abyss laid out much of the work in its June–September update preview, which also promised new combat content and cross-save.
