Pearl Abyss has delayed Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown by two weeks, moving the expansion from 15 October to 29 October. The Crimson Desert DLC delay was reported by GamesRadar on 30 September, after the developer posted its update on X.

“We have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience.”

Crimson Desert DLC delay: why the launch moved

The studio says it will use the extra time to refine the expansion, but has not named a specific feature or technical issue behind the move. Its official Charting the Unknown page still lists ship-based ocean exploration, new islands, underwater areas and story content among the expansion’s additions. Pearl Abyss has not announced a change to that content alongside the new date.

The expansion was first given an October 15 release during its September reveal. That date now becomes October 29 for markets where it is available. Pearl Abyss has not announced any cuts or changes to the feature list alongside the delay.

What the Crimson Desert DLC delay means for UAE players

Pearl Abyss said in its September pre-order notice that the DLC would not be available in some markets after a review of content and age-rating requirements, but did not name those regions. Tbreak previously reported the UAE among the affected markets. The new delay announcement does not say whether that restriction has changed, so an October 29 date is not confirmation of UAE access.

The base game’s free August update is separate from the paid expansion; that update is already available. UAE players will need a specific market-availability update from Pearl Abyss before treating the new date as a local release date.

Has Pearl Abyss said what needs more work?

No. The studio cited polish and stability but did not identify a specific feature, system or issue.

Will Charting the Unknown be available on Mac at launch?

No. Pearl Abyss says the expansion will not be available on the Mac App Store at launch; it will make a separate announcement if a Mac release is planned.

Does the 29 October date confirm a UAE release?

No. The delay announcement does not name affected markets or say that the existing regional restrictions have changed.
