Chloe Bennet says she is still angry about the Agents of SHIELD canon debate, while remaining ready to return as Daisy Johnson if Marvel ever calls.
Agents of SHIELD canon remains unresolved
Bennet, who played Daisy Johnson, Skye and Quake across all seven seasons, made the comments in an interview with Elle, quoted by IGN. The ABC series ran from 2013 to 2020 and began as a direct television offshoot of The Avengers, with Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson leading the team.
“I’m still low-key angry that they don’t fully acknowledge this as canon — the real followers will understand that. We were the first MCU TV show, and we did 130-something hour-long episodes.”

The Agents of SHIELD canon debate has lasted because the show initially tied itself closely to Marvel’s films. Nick Fury and Peggy Carter appeared in early episodes, while the series dealt with the fallout from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Later seasons moved into alternate timelines and more self-contained stories, making the show’s place in the wider MCU harder to pin down.
The series is not included in Disney+’s MCU Complete Timeline collection, unlike Marvel’s former Netflix shows, including Daredevil. Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum has previously said that working out how the older ABC shows fit into the canon is an interesting problem, but Marvel has not issued a final ruling, as The Direct reports.

Bennet said she would still accept an offer to reprise Daisy. “I’m obsessed with Daisy. I feel like I am Daisy. I would be so protective of her,” she told Elle, adding that she would like to play the character with the growth she has experienced since the show ended.
The comments do not confirm a comeback, and Marvel has not announced a new Agents of SHIELD project. They do keep the door open, at least from Bennet’s side. The canon paperwork remains somewhere in the multiverse, presumably waiting for a committee meeting.
