Borderlands 4's First Premium DLC Bounty Pack 2 Drops February 26

Borderlands 4's first premium DLC, Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon, will release on February 26, 2026, Gearbox announced. The DLC launches alongside a major update introducing Pearlescent gear, a new rarity tier with power levels superior to Legendary equipment.

What's in Bounty Pack 2

Gearbox describes the DLC as 'all-new bite-sized yet flavorful narrative content' that includes a new mission and Legendary loot to collect. Players will also receive a themed Vault Card featuring 24 cosmetics and four rerollable pieces of gear unlocked through gameplay.

The studio is holding back story details for Legend of the Stone Demon, promising more information closer to launch. However, the concurrent update will introduce the most significant addition: Pearlescent gear, available to all Borderlands 4 players regardless of edition, though some pieces will be exclusive to Bounty Pack 2 owners.

Mad Ellie Story Pack coming next month

The first Story Pack for Borderlands 4, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, will arrive next month with multiple main and side missions set in Kairos, a new zone. The content centres on the return of fan-favourite Ellie and focuses on a cosmic horror theme with a bloodier, darker tone.

The Story Pack will introduce C4SH, the first new playable Vault Hunter since launch. C4SH is described as a former casino dealer bot, adding a fourth character option to the game's roster. The pack will also include new gear and cosmetics.

Switch 2 development remains paused

Development of Borderlands 4's Switch 2 version remains paused following its delay last year, publisher Take-Two confirmed earlier this week. The port was originally announced during Nintendo's April 2025 Direct for an October 3, 2025 release before being scrubbed just a week prior to launch.

Pre-orders were cancelled, though Gearbox framed the move as a delay rather than a full cancellation. Take-Two has not provided a timeline for resuming development or announced whether the project will proceed.
