- REDSEC, Battlefield's free battle royale, is available now alongside BF6 Season 1
- 100-player BR on a new map called Fort Lyndon plus an elimination playlist called Gauntlet
- Shared Battle Pass progression across BF6 and REDSEC
Battlefield’s free spin-off is real and it’s here. REDSEC is a free-to-play battle royale that launches alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1. It brings a huge new map, a second competitive mode called Gauntlet, and Portal tools so the community can break the rules in style. Better: progress you earn in REDSEC also moves your Battlefield 6 Battle Pass along. And yes, it’s already live in the UAE.
What’s live today
REDSEC is out now with two core modes and a new map. Progress counts towards the same Battle Pass you’re levelling in Battlefield 6.
- Fort Lyndon hosts the BR and custom modes
- Battle Royale (100 players) in squads or duos
- Gauntlet is an 8-squad knockout with rotating missions
- Shared progression with Battlefield 6 Season 1
The BR keeps squads tight and the pace high. You drop in as a class with a sidearm and work missions for upgrades, gadgets and even tank access if you pull a keycard. Gauntlet is the pressure cooker: complete objectives like Deadlock or Wreckage; bottom squads are cut each round until one team wins.
How REDSEC handles classes and gear
You don’t pick a primary plus a bag of gadgets like classic Battlefield. Loadouts come from your class.
- Class Signature Set: two gadgets, a weapon proficiency and a trait
- Training Path: four traits you build into during a run
- Starting gear: sidearm + melee; earn more via missions and loot
- Vehicles: keycards can unlock heavy armour
It’s a stricter loop than Warzone. Your class defines your early power, and mission rewards or upgrade kits push you forward. Expect more squad coordination and less pure gun meta chasing, at least at launch.
Gauntlet explained
Gauntlet is the other half of REDSEC and plays like a multi-round trials playlist.
- Eight squads enter, two are eliminated each round
- Objective pool: decryption, extraction, territory control, target protection, explosive escort
- Finale: last two squads face off for the win
Because missions rotate, teams need all-rounders—someone for defence, someone who can move the payload, and someone to watch flanks. It’s Battlefield’s objective DNA, compressed into a reality-show elimination format.
Portal support and custom rules
REDSEC plugs into Battlefield’s sandbox tools.
- Portal includes Fort Lyndon, BR, Gauntlet and Verified modes
- Creators can build custom rulesets
- Battlefield 6 players can use REDSEC content in Portal as well
If you liked tinkering in Battlefield 6’s Portal, this keeps that spirit. Expect “no gadgets” lobbies, vehicle-only chaos, or sweat-fest Gauntlet variants once the community warms up.
Season 1 roadmap and UAE timing
Season 1 arrives in three drops between October and December 2025. Dates below are given as listed by VGC; in the UAE (GMT+4), updates usually land the same day or early next morning depending on server rollouts. VGC

Is Battlefield REDSEC really free to play?
Yes. REDSEC is a standalone, free-to-play battle royale that launched alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1, with shared Battle Pass progression between both games.
How many players are in a match and what squads are supported?
The Battle Royale mode supports up to 100 players in squads of four or duos.
What’s different about REDSEC’s loadouts?
Loadouts are class-based with a Signature Set and Training Path. You start with a sidearm and melee, then earn more through missions, loot and upgrade kits.
What is Gauntlet?
An eight-squad knockout playlist with rotating objective missions. The bottom two squads are eliminated after each round until only two remain for the final showdown.
