Atari Announces Barbie Rewind, a 16-Game Retro Collection With a Previously Unreleased Title

Atari and Digital Eclipse have announced Barbie Rewind, a new collection that brings together 16 Barbie games from the 1990s and 2000s alongside a new Dreamhouse decorating mode. The compilation will be released later this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Rather than presenting the older games as a standalone retro collection, Barbie Rewind connects them to a new decorating game centred around Barbie's Dreamhouse. Players will be able to customise the home with furniture, decor and accessories inspired by Barbie playsets released over the past 65 years.

Classic Barbie Games Unlock Items for the Dreamhouse Mode

Progressing through the included retro games will unlock additional items for the Dreamhouse mode. The collection spans several generations of hardware, beginning with the NES and Game Boy before moving through the 16-bit era and into games released for the original PlayStation, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance.

The remaining five games have not yet been announced.

Barbie: Vacation Adventure Is Officially Releasing for the First Time

One of the more notable additions is Barbie: Vacation Adventure, a 16-bit game developed for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive and SNES but never commercially released. Its inclusion in Barbie Rewind marks the first time the game will be officially playable.

Digital Eclipse studio head Mike Mika said the collection is intended to introduce the older games to a new audience while also giving long-time fans a way to revisit them through a modern package.

Barbie Rewind Price and Release Platforms

Barbie Rewind will launch digitally for $29.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.

Physical editions will also be available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch at $29.99. Nintendo Switch owners will additionally have the option of a $59.99 Deluxe Edition, which includes an exclusive Barbie doll wearing an Atari T-shirt.
