When does Bad Monkey season 2 premiere?
The first of the ten episodes streams on December 2, with one new episode every Wednesday through February 3, 2027. It is the show’s first new run since season one concluded in autumn 2024.
An original story, not the book sequel
Season one adapted Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel of the same name. His 2016 follow-up, Razor Girl, continued Yancy’s story in print, which made an adaptation of it the obvious route. Apple has instead confirmed an “all-new original story” for television, with Hiaasen staying on as executive producer — presumably satisfied with the arrangement.
In the new season, Yancy witnesses the murder of Florida’s finest fixer — a title that tells you most of what you need to know — and an ambitious state attorney teams him with a strait-laced forensic accountant. He also has an ageing father, unresolved romantic tension with Dr Rosa Campensino and a turf war between rival criminal organisations to navigate. The locals include an erudite mob boss, his unhinged son and a hard-edged young woman who needs Yancy’s protection.
Who is in the Bad Monkey season 2 cast?
Vaughn leads the returning group of Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence and John Ortiz. John Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski and Zavior Phillips join the cast, and the guest list runs to Dax Shepard, Sofia Boutella, Peter Billingsley, June Diane Raphael and others, which should keep the oddball quotient where it needs to be. Bill Lawrence returns as showrunner and executive producer through his Doozer Productions deal with Warner Bros. Television — the same arrangement behind his other Apple TV hit, Ted Lasso.
