Avengers: Endgame Encore’s Two Doomsday Sneak Peeks Come With an Unexpected Catch

Avengers: Endgame Encore will carry two separate sneak peeks at Avengers: Doomsday — four minutes of footage that plays in every screening, and a second look reserved for IMAX and Infinity Vision screens, IGN reports.

The four-minute block is the material that pushes the Encore runtime to 185 minutes, four more than the 2019 cut. The exclusive second look is the catch: it only screens on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens, so a standard ticket gets one peek, not two.

What is Infinity Vision?

Infinity Vision is Disney’s premium large-format certification rather than a new projection technology. Screens must be at least 45 feet wide, carry 7.1 or immersive audio, and hit 14 foot-lamberts of brightness in 2D to qualify. Endgame Encore is the first film to play under the banner, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18.

Joe Russo, who co-directed Endgame with his brother Anthony, described the new material as a bridge between the two films.

“It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame.”

Middle East distributor Italia Film ME says Encore returns to regional cinemas on September 24 — a day ahead of the US date — in IMAX and Infinity Vision screens. UAE chains had not listed sessions at the time of writing; VOX, Novo and Reel typically post Marvel bookings closer to release. Avengers: Doomsday follows on December 18.
