Apple Music Hall opens with Spatial Audio and global livestream plans

Apple Music Hall has opened inside London’s Battersea Power Station as a 600-capacity venue built for intimate concerts, Spatial Audio recording and broadcast-ready video. Apple says performances from the new Apple Music Hall can also be livestreamed globally, giving fans outside London a way into shows designed for a much smaller room.

Apple Music Hall combines intimate shows with serious production

The Apple Music Hall stage is 38 feet wide and can switch between a traditional front-facing setup and an in-the-round arrangement. A 48-speaker spatial sound system surrounds the audience, allowing artists to perform in an immersive audio environment rather than treating Spatial Audio as something added only after the show.

Behind the stage, two recording and mix studios can capture each performance as a multitrack recording. Apple says those recordings can be mixed in Spatial Audio either live or after the event, alongside a broadcast-ready mix. The venue is also hardwired for 16 or more cameras, with a control room that can run iPhone video capture alongside conventional broadcast cameras.

That means one small concert can generate a live audience experience, a finished audio release and multicamera video without moving the production elsewhere. It is an unusually efficient setup for Apple Music, which has increasingly treated live performances as programming rather than one-off events.

Apple Music Hall will host global livestreams from Battersea

Apple has not published a full performance calendar yet, but it says shows from the venue will be livestreamed globally. Tickets and upcoming events will be listed through the official Apple Music Hall site, while Apple’s announcement confirms the venue’s capacity, production setup and broadcast plans.

The hall also becomes the new London base for Apple Music Radio, with the service’s London-based hosts and shows broadcasting from Battersea. The venue’s heritage brickwork, fluted arches and bronze balconies are designed to echo the power station around it, although the technical brief is distinctly modern.
