Apple is reportedly considering selling enterprise AI servers powered by future M8 Ultra chips, giving developers, businesses and governments another possible route into Apple silicon infrastructure. The project is still under discussion and is not expected to reach the market before 2029, if it reaches the market at all.
Apple M8 Ultra AI servers could come in two sizes
According to 9to5Mac, citing The Information, Apple is considering two versions: one with two M8 Ultra chips and another with four. The machines would be aimed at AI developers, companies and government customers rather than ordinary Mac buyers.
The report says Apple has also discussed Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion technology for connecting the chips. NVLink Fusion combines networking hardware and software intended to help processors communicate inside data centres. Reuters reported the same development, while noting that it could not independently verify The Information’s report.
Apple already builds AI servers for its own data centres
Apple has been developing the reported server for about a year, with CEO John Ternus said to be supportive of the project. The company already manufactures advanced AI servers in Houston for use in its own data centres, according to Apple’s newsroom.
That existing activity does not mean Apple has decided to sell a product based on M8 Ultra. The Information’s report says the plans have not been finalised, the launch is not expected before 2029, and Apple could cancel the project or remove Nvidia technology before release.
For UAE developers and businesses, the proposal would be relevant only if Apple eventually sells the hardware in the region and provides a route to support, deployment and service. No UAE pricing, availability or launch commitment has been announced.
