Sony’s latest PS5 system update adds two things that actually matter day-to-day: DualSense pairing across multiple devices, and a Power Saver mode for supported games. The rollout began on 17 September 2025 and you can grab it from Settings on your console. Below is what’s new, how to use it, and what UAE players should know.
What’s in the new PS5 update
The update lets you save up to four device slots to your DualSense or DualSense Edge and switch between them with a button combo. It also introduces Power Saver for Games, which lowers power use by scaling back performance in titles that support it. Sony links the feature to its “Road to Zero” plan for net-zero emissions by 2040.
- Multi-device pairing for DualSense and DualSense Edge
- Up to four saved device slots per controller
- New Power Saver option in Settings for supported games
- Console update available via Settings > System > System Software
Sony says the update is rolling out globally and calls out future Power Saver support for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei. It also points to its sustainability commitments for context.
DualSense multi-device pairing: the basics
Before this update, swapping your DualSense between PS5, PC, Mac or mobile meant re-pairing every time. Now you can register four devices and hop between them with the PS button plus an action button. It’s simple and it saves time.
- Hold one of Triangle / Circle / Cross / Square + PS for ~5 seconds to pair a slot
- The player lights blink to show the slot number (1–4)
- To switch, hold the same combo for ~3 seconds
- Works with DualSense and DualSense Edge
- Check the official device/OS support list.
Power Saver for Games: what changes
Power Saver appears in Settings and reduces power draw when a supported game enables it. You trade some performance for lower energy use. VR mode is unavailable while Power Saver is on, and some gameplay features may be limited. More titles will add support over time. Learn more on the PlayStation support pae.,
- Toggle in: Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver
- Works only in games that add support
- Scales back performance to cut power save
For players, this is a straight choice: keep your existing performance settings, or opt-in to a lower-power profile when the game supports it. It’s one more lever for homes that care about energy use – or those trying to squeeze a quieter session late at night.
UAE timing and quick setup check
Sony updated its post on 16 September to say the global rollout starts “tomorrow,” which landed on 17 September 2025 in the UAE. If you don’t see it yet, check again later—rollouts can stagger. To grab it: Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Region: Global rollout from 17 September 2025 (UAE time)
- Path: Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings
- Tip: Restart your PS5 if the update doesn’t appear straight away
If you’re planning to use Power Saver with upcoming titles, keep an eye on patch notes for Death Stranding 2, Demon’s Souls and Ghost of Yōtei. We’ll track support as it arrives.
How do I pair my DualSense to multiple devices?
Turn off the controller lights, unplug USB, then hold PS + one action button (Triangle/Circle/Cross/Square) for about five seconds to register a slot. On the device, enable Bluetooth and select the controller. Repeat for up to four devices.
How do I switch my DualSense between PS5, PC and phone?
Hold PS + the action button you used for that slot for about three seconds. The light bar and player indicator blink, then settle to show the slot number.
What does Power Saver do—and does it affect VR?
Power Saver lets supported PS5 games scale back performance to reduce power use. VR mode is unavailable while Power Saver is active, and some features may be limited. Details live on the PlayStation support page
