New releases make their mark
Three Indian-language titles opened in the top five, a reminder of the regional skew that defines the UAE’s theatrical market. Thudakkam, a Malayalam action drama distributed by Phars Film, debuted at number three with AED 2.0M — the strongest Indian opener of the week. DC, a Tamil film from The Plot Pictures, landed at number four with AED 1.5M. El Gawahergy, an English-language title via Orient Films, rounded out the top five on AED 1.3M.
The Chinese entry Panda Plan 2: The Magical Tribe (Front Row Filmed Entertainment) opened at number ten with AED 139,735. Beyond the top ten, five more titles debuted: G.D.N., Korean Kanakaraju, Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, and two regional releases.
Holds and repertory
The Odyssey continues to demonstrate remarkable legs. Christopher Nolan’s epic dropped just 18.6% in its fourth weekend to AED 4.1M, taking its running total past AED 40.8M — the second-highest cumulative figure on the chart. Toy Story 5 (AED 181,565, -14.1%) and Minions & Monsters (AED 303,183, -20.3%) both held steadily in their sixth and eighth weeks, respectively.
The Egyptian comedy Khali Balak Min Nafsak, distributed by Vox Cinemas, held at number six in its third weekend with AED 623,058 and a total of AED 5.3M — a solid run for a regional title.
