What is The Ultimatum?
The Ultimatum is a dating show involving couples in which one partner is unsure about marriage and the other is certain and issued an ultimatum: either the couple get married after their time on the show, or they separate and move on.
To help both partners make up their minds, they each have to do a trial marriage with other people while on The Ultimatum—living alone together in a separate apartment and adapting to each other’s routines in the style of a newly married couple.
While some of the new relationships blossom, leaving the original relationships on tenterhooks, other trial marriages are a flat-out failure and confirm the original partners’ desire for each other. If you haven’t already, you can watch season 1 of The Ultimatum on Netflix to get a feel for the show.
When Does The Ultimatum Season 2 Air?
The first episodes of season 2, episodes 1-8, will be broadcast on Netflix on August 23. The final episodes, episodes 9-10, will air a week later on August 30.
If the first season of The Ultimatum is anything to go by, there’ll also likely be follow-up episodes and a reunion episode later this year, showing how the married (or separated!) couples are doing post-show.
Who’s in the Cast of The Ultimatum Season 2?
Kat and Alex
After meeting on a dating app, Kat and Alex hit it off and started travelling the country together while she worked as a travel nurse. Alex works in software sales, and the pair share a thirst for adventure.
In this case, it’s Kat who has issued the ultimatum to Alex. He is unsure about marrying her as he wants a woman who’ll speak her mind, and Kat can be overly avoidant when it comes to conflicts.
Will the couple overcome their communication differences on The Ultimatum? Or will their trial marriages with other people introduce them to better matches?
Lisa and Brian

Lisa works in clinical services, while Brian is a financial analyst. They’re no strangers to ultimatums: Lisa issued him one after they’d been in a situationship for 6 months. Luckily, Brian agreed to commit!
Now Lisa has issued another ultimatum: she’s ready to marry Brian and start a family with him, and if he refuses, she’ll move on. It at least looks promising that Brian gets on well with Lisa’s 10-year-old daughter.
However, the couple’s conflicts might be a dealbreaker: Lisa can become explosive and has jealousy issues that Brian struggles with. Let’s see how they fare on The Ultimatum, where both of them will temporarily have to live with a new partner!
James and Ryann

James and Ryann got together in high school while he was a footballer, and she was prom queen. It sounds like the ideal love story; they’ve been together for seven years.
It hasn’t all been rosy for the couple, though. As they grew older, their differences and trust issues came to light, especially while James was living in another state. James currently works as a research assistant, while Ryann is a radiologic technologist.
In hopes of solidifying their future, Ryann has issued James an ultimatum. The problem: James wants to be more financially stable before he commits to marriage and starting a family. Will their time on the show change his perspective?
Trey and Riah

Trey couldn’t believe his eyes when he first saw Riah’s dating profile; he thought she must be a catfish. But the couple soon hit it off in real life and successfully maintained a long-distance relationship, until Riah eventually moved in with him.
Trey works as an area manager, while Riah is a managing server. Their differences in date nights and marriage have fed their decision to take part in The Ultimatum.
While Riah wants Trey to step up his game on date nights, Trey thinks her expectations are too high. On the flip side, Trey is ready to marry Riah and recreate his parents’ successful marriage, while Riah is sceptical that any marriage can work out.
Antonio and Roxanne

When Antonio and Roxanne first met, their connection was instant. But circumstances meant they couldn’t be together—until they reconnected years later on social media. Freight broker Antonio and CEO Roxanne knew they were meant to be together.
Yet there are rifts in the couple’s relationship, which have led to Antonio issuing an ultimatum. While Roxanne is career driven and wants Antonio to be more driven like her, Antonio feels her ambition limits the amount of affection she gives him.
