The Ultimatum Season 1

A new season of The Ultimatum is here—making it a perfect time to reflect on last year’s couples and how far they’ve come since their trial marriages.

Remember Rae fighting with Zay and trying to make things work with Jake? And Alexis and Hunter, who got engaged early and left the show? How about Madlyn and Colby, who showed off their baby bump in the reunion episode?

Here you can find out all about these couples and the rest—including who is still together, what they’ve been up to, and whether they’ve reached any more important life milestones.

Alexis and Hunter

A post shared by Alexis Parr (@alexisparr)

In season 1 of The Ultimatum, Alexis and Hunter had an easy ride as they didn’t end up separating to do alternative, trial marriages. Instead, Alexis declared her devotion to Hunter early on, he proposed, and they left the show early in episode 3.

Since filming, Alexis and Hunter moved in together and married in June 2022. They post intermittent couple updates on social media and seem to be loving life in LA, where they live. Congrats!

Madlyn and Colby

It was fairly rocky for Madlyn and Colby in The Ultimatum. Colby had to win over Madlyn’s sceptical friends, and he caused a stir by telling a girl he was in an open relationship. Luckily, Colby and Madlyn worked things out, got engaged, and revealed Madlyn’s pregnancy at the reunion.

What’s happened since? Madlyn gave birth to the beautiful baby Josie, whom she shared in endearing Instagram posts. What’s more, the couple are expecting a second child, due in September this year!

Shanique and Randall

Whether Shanique and Randall would make it was uncertain; they fought a lot in The Ultimatum and even broke off their engagement for six months after the show.

However, the couple are now back together and going strong: they’re living together, have been travelling together, and go on sweet date nights—including one on Valentine’s Day 2023!

Jake

The Ultimatum was a struggle for Jake; he clearly wanted to remain loyal to his original partner, April but also had a very strong connection with Rae, the partner in his alternative trial marriage. Ultimately, Jake split with April, and things fizzled out with Rae.

At the reunion, Jake said, ‘I’m trying to find out what I want, what makes me happy ‘cause that was definitely disregarded…the previous two years’. It seems Jake is still focusing on self-growth now, as he has not recently posted much on social media.

April

Although Jake developed feelings for someone else, April still tried to make things work with him during their time on The Ultimatum. However, it wasn’t meant to be, and April was in a new relationship by the time of the reunion episode.

As of summer 2023, April will soon give birth to a baby with her new partner. She has posted many proud baby bump pictures on Insta and endearing love letters to her boyfriend. Time will tell if she ever issues him an ultimatum!

Rae

A post shared by Rae (@rae.williams)

Rae started falling for Jake in season 1, which took its toll on her original partner, Zay. Frustrated, Zay went out for a whole night alone, causing a huge argument that continued at the reunion. Rae stood her ground, shouting, ‘You’re not gonna make me back down this time’.

Since things ended with Zay (and Jake), Rae has been exploring her sexuality, as she hinted at the reunion. She has dated women and is currently enrolled as a Playboy Bunny.

Zay

A post shared by Zay Wilson (@zaywilson)

While Rae got to explore a potential new relationship in The Ultimatum, Zay and his trial partner, Shanique, weren’t as compatible. Zay evidently still had feelings for Rae at the reunion but accepted the situation and said to her defiantly, ‘Live your life. I’m gonna live mine.’

Following The Ultimatum, Zay appeared on the dating show Perfect Match, where he was eliminated early on. However, since then, he seems to have formed a bond with a Perfect Match co-contestant, Savannah: the pair recently posted a TikTok video together. Watch this space!

Lauren and Nathan

Like Alexis and Hunter, Lauren and Nathan evaded the dramatic trial engagements by getting engaged early on in the show. This was despite Nathan’s reservations about Lauren not wanting to have children: ‘As long as I spend the rest of my life with you, that’s all I want’.

Where the couple stands now? They got married in October 2022 and have been on a lot of travelling. Also, they may well still be entertaining the possibility, voiced in the reunion episode, of compromising and having one child together.

…And that’s it! You’re now up-to-date with the couples from The Ultimatum season 1 and how their love lives have progressed since last year. Now it’s time for you to watch season 2 and get to know the new cast!
