Here are some of Raymond Reddington’s and associates’ thrilling moments from the beginning to the finish.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
1. Raymond Reddington surrenders himself to the FBI
Although we will come to know Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader as a calculating, caring and yet violent man, we meet him as the most wanted man on the FBI list. His motives are unknown, and we don’t understand his reasons until the fourth season of The Blacklist. Red aims to become closer to Elizabeth Keen, an FBI agent.
2. Reddington killing Mr Kaplan
We have journeyed through the whole series not knowing who takes care of Reddington’s messes until the season four finale. Here we meet Mr Kaplan. She scrubs up messes that will jam up Red. But she deals with an unforgiving boss. Because of her betrayal, Raymond buys her a farm, transfers the dead to her and proceeds to shoot her where she was supposed to retire. But unfortunately, Mr Kaplan does not die and starts unravelling Raymond’s empire. But to her dismay, Red is powerful, and she finally decides to take her life instead of being arrested or at the mercy of Raymond.
3. The attack on the post office (FBI’s Blacksite)
After a coup instigated by Elizabeth Keen, Marvin Gerald decides that he can take over Raymond’s operations. But unfortunately, Raymond is a more calculating foe and manages to take down Gerald. However, Marvin has another ace up his sleeve. He points Wujing in the right direction on Raymond being an FBI Confidential Informant. This leads Wujing to recruit other blacklisters to take down Raymond.
Unfortunately for Wujing, Red plants a mole inside his operations, lures him to the actual black site, and kills him. You may be wondering how Red managed to get the post office vacated. He builds a duplicate post office and sends the FBI on a wild goose chase. In this episode, Raymond deletes all involvement with the main justice, the FBI and the US government.
4. Meeting Katrina
We have wondered if Katrina is alive. But in the season six finale of The Blacklist, we know that she is alive. Against the advice of Dembe, Raymond proceeds to meet Katrina alone. You can tell that these two – Red and Katrina have a history as she kisses him, but in an unfortunate turn of events, she drugs him and proceeds to kidnap him.
Red manages to escape from detention with the help of a nurse – a former medic in the army. They fend off Katrina in a remote ranch before reinforcements arrive from the FBI. Katrina then covertly moves next to Lizz’s apartment and proceeds to baby seat her granddaughter. Red finally kills Katrina, leading Elizabeth Keen to rebel against him, and tries to take down Raymond.

5. Elizabeth Keen’s death
Our main co-star Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is set to take over Raymond’s empire. She is taught everything there is to know about the business, the blacklist and Red’s connections. The plan was for Elizabeth to shoot Raymond Reddington in a ruse to fool authorities, co-conspirators and enemies. Unfortunately, Keen is the one who is shot, and this throws Red out of wack. Ultimately, he manages to track the killers, and it’s none other than Marvin Gerald – the lawyer.
6. Reddington’s surveillance of top government officials across the globe
Throughout the series, we know that Red always has information on anything and everything. But we do not understand how he comes about the information. However, during the 10th season of The Blacklist, we get the blacklist ‘Room 417’. Here we discover that Red has a whole surveillance room in the capitol building – right on the noses of those hunting him. We also understand Red’s end game and that he is dismantling his intelligence network.
7. Donald has a secret
In our interactions with Donald (Diego Klattenhoff), we know he is a straightforward guy, always doing his job by the books. But in ‘Brothers’, we know a secret about him. Donald’s father was killed because he refused a bribe, and a young Donald would not let things go. So he confronts and shoots Markin. Donald’s brother would then cover up the act, pushing Ressler down the law enforcement path. However, a crime boss discovers this crime and blackmails the brothers to eliminate evidence from the FBI. Elizabeth Keen comes to the rescue and cleans up Ressler’s mess.
8. Dembe becomes an FBI agent
In season 9, episode 9, ‘Boukam Baptiste’, we take a trip down memory lane exploring how Red’s right-hand man became an FBI agent. After Elizabeth’s death, Raymond is deeply affected, leading him to check out. Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) stepped up and ran things for Raymond. During this time, the son of a man attacking Red was accidentally killed, and this tragic accident sent Dembe Zuma down the road to become an FBI agent.
9. Red hacking the Attorney General’s office
With all the government agencies hunting Raymond down, you would think that Red would hide until the heat dies down. But that’s not Raymond. He comes to the aid of Agent Harold Cooper by hacking the AG’s office and proceeding to Facetime the attendants to the meeting. Here, we get the “I am what I am! You made a devil’s bargain. Did you expect me to stop being the devil?” speech. This is the most memorable in this series, and it should be.
10. Elizabeth Keen becoming a fugitive
None of the scenes is more heartbreaking other than the series coming to an end than Elizabeth Keen becoming a fugitive. In season 2, Keen guns down Attorney General Tom Connolly, making her a fugitive alongside Red. The task force is then tasked with apprehending her. But there is a conflict of interest as her teammates are conflicted, and we get to see each of them have a different point of view. At the same time, Red and Liz convince the FBI to go after certain blacklisters to exonerate Liz.
There are a whole more scenes that can easily land on this list.
Those were my favourite and most outrageous moments from The Blacklist. Let’s continue the conversation in the comments section, where you can tell me your favourite scenes.

I haven’t seen this show- just never found the time to get into it even though I like James Spader as an actor.
