Journey

Filmmaker Cheran is making his OTT debut with Journey. Cheran, who last helmed the 2019 film Thirumanam, is helming this 9-episode series.  It features an ensemble cast that includes Sarath Kumar, Prasanna, Aari Arujunan, Kalaiyarasan and Divyabharathi. The series revolves around an interview for a coveted job. Four ambitious individuals with an appetite for cut-throat competition clash in a corporate arena for the job that promises to solve all their problems.

The extended cast also includes Kashyap Barbhaya, Jayaprakash, Jasmine Metivier, Anupama, Ilavarasu, Naren, Anju Kurian, Vela Ramamoorthy and Bharani.

Cubicles Season 3

Hindi | Drama | Rating: U

Cubicles, which chronicles the life and travails of Piyush Prajapati as a corporate employee, is on its third season. The series shows the ups and downs in the lives of typical corporate employees confined to the cubicle.  Now, Piyush is a team leader, but his travails are far from over. This humor-filled series is directed by Chaitanya Kumbhakonum, and produced by Arunabh Kumar and created by The Viral Fever (TVF). The cast comprises  Abhishek Chauhan, Badri Chavan, Ayushi Gupta, Niketan Sharma, Ketaki Kulkarni, Nimit Kapoor, Khushbu Baid, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Arnav Bhasin, Pratish Mehta. 

Ramabanam

Telugu | Action | Rating: 18TC

Director Sriwass had previously worked with Gopichand in the films Lakshyam and Loukyam, both of which were big hits. The duo joined forces again with Ramabanam. The story is about two brothers —- this is where the angle of Ramayanam comes in. Aside from Gopichand, the film stars Jagapathi Babu, Dimple Hayathi, Nassar, Sachin Khedekar, Khushbu Sundar, Vennela Kishore, Ali, Saptagiri, Raja Ravindra, and Satya Akkala. The movie is a typical Telugu family entertainer.

Agent

Telugu | Action | Rating: 18TC

Espionage action thrillers are the flavour of the season, it seems. This Telugu film is about a young, wild spy who’s deputed on a mission to end the reign of an underworld don. The film stars Akhil Akkineni, Malayalam star Mammootty, Sakshi Vaidya, Dino Morea and others. Directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi, the film, with music by Hiphop Tamizha, is produced by Anil Sunkara. In its theatrical run, the film did underwhelming business.

Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham

Malayalam | Family | Rating: 18TC

Debutant filmmaker Muhashin directs Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham, and the script is by acclaimed director-turned-writer Harshad. Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham is a story set in the coastal region of north Kerala, where a young man faces daily challenges.  The cast includes Basil Joseph, Sreeja Ravi, Binu Pappu, Indrans, Swathi Das Prabhu, Jaffer Idukki, Sudheesh, Johny Antony, Shibla Fara, Parvathy R Krishna.

Thuramukham

Malayalam | Drama

This period drama revolves around the ‘Chappa’ system widely practised in the Cochin harbour in the 1940s and 50s. The film features Nivin Pauly, Joju George, Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Arjun Ashokan, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith and Darshana Rajendran, among others.

The film is based on a play written by KM Chidambaran. The play has been adapted for the big screen by his son Gopan Chidambaram.  Thuramukham is directed by Rajiv Ravi, known for acclaimed films like Annayum Rasoolum and Kammatti Paadam. The film responded well when it was released in theatres in March.

Purusha Pretham

Malayalam | Suspense | Rating: N/A

Purusha Pretham, which means a male ghost, is a horror story that turns into a suspense drama. The plot is centred around a missing corpse and a cop’s search for it.

Darshana Rajendran, Prasanth Alexander, and Devaki Rajendran play the lead roles. It is directed by Krishand, who made the critically acclaimed Aavasavyuham, which won the Kerala state award in 2021. The story is based on an original story by Manu Thodupuzha. The film is a direct-on-OTT release.

Rocket Boys 2

Hindi | Drama

The interesting story of Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, two of the eminent scientists of India, had a great canvas in Rocket Boys season one. Now the series is on its second season, and the story is said to have far more complexities. The cast comprises Jim Sarbh, Ishwak Singh, Regina Cassandra, Saba Azad,  Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Charu Shankar, and Namit Das. Created by Nikhil Advani & Abhay Pannu, the series is directed by Abhay Pannu.

Accidental Farmer & Co

Tamil | Comedy

The Tamil web series, starring Vaibhav in the lead, is about a farmer growing a ‘Miracle Plant’ in his village and becoming an unexpected hero in the area.The series also stars Ramya Pandian. Written and directed by Sugan Jay, it is backed by Raja Ramamurthy. Balaji Mohan is attached as the creative producer.

Christy

Malayalam | Romance

The story is one of the oldest tropes. A young student falling in love with his teacher. Supposedly based on true incidents that happened in debutant director Alvin Henry’s life, Christy is basically about the student-woman teacher relationship. Christy is scripted by GR Indugopan and Benyamin, and stars Mathew Thomas and Malavika Mohanan in the leads.

Iru Dhuruvam Season 2

Tamil | Action

The first season of Iru Dhuruvam had Inspector Viktor in pursuit of an enigmatic killer who left Thirukural poetry at the crime scene. The first season ended with the cop discovering that the killer had a personal connection to him. The second season takes off from there. Nanda Dhurairaj reprises his role as the police inspector Viktor. but the spotlight will be on the talented actor Prasanna who plays a crucial role in this series. Abhirami Venkatachalam, Abdool and Sebastian Antony are all back in the same characters from Season 1. Iru Dhuruvam Season 2 is written and directed by Arun Prakash.

Potluck 2

Hindi | Comedy

The modern urban family drama Potluck, in its first season, was widely welcomed. The show, which is about a whacky family’s weekly get together over potluck, starred Kitu Gidwani, Jatin Sial, Cyrus Sahukar, Ira Dubey, Harman Singha, Saloni Khanna, Shikha Talsania, and Siddhant Karnick.  Now, the second season arrives and the Shastri family members deal with significant life issues. One person has lost his job, another is struggling to take care of his children without his wife. The series takes up the issues of time management, career and family balancing, raising children as a working parent and such. The show is directed by Rajshree Ojha.

Jehanabad: Of Love & War

This series has high expectations riding on it. Said to be based on real-life incidents, the story revolves around incidents that took place in Jehanabad, a small village in Bihar, where love and anarchy co-exist.  The plot is a college-based love story in the backdrop of a jailbreak by Naxals. Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra’s series features Ritwik Bhowmik, Harshita Gaur and Parambrata Chattopadhyay in lead roles.

Saudi Vellakka

Malayalam | Drama

Directed by Tharun Moorthy of ‘Operation Java’ fame, Saudi Vellakka is a social drama about a small court case that gets needlessly dragged for 13 years. It is about a spat between neighbours that takes an ugly turn. The film features Lukman Lukku, Binu Pappan, Vincy Aloshious, Remya Suresh, and Nilja K Baby.

Tamil | Drama

This is an anthology series that features five different stories. The theme is human emotions that blur the lines between real and surreal. Produced by Chutzpah Films, the series has a huge cast of Aditi Balan, Archana K, Bharath Niwas, Gautami Tadimalla, Linga, Ritika Singh, Roju, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Siddique KM, Vinoth Kishan and Anshita Anand.
