Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya

Hindi | Romcom | Rating: PG15

This is said to be a science fiction romantic comedy.  Shahid Kapoor plays a scientist who develops feelings and finally marries Kriti’s character, Sifra, a highly intelligent female robot. Complications and funny conundrums ensue when he introduces Sifra to his family. The film is helmed by debut directors Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. The film also features veteran actors Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia in the cast.


Hindi | Thriller | Rating: A

This thriller features Bhumi Pednekar in the role of an investigative journalist who unravels a series of sexual assaults at a child shelter home. Directed by Pulkit, the film’s cast includes Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, and Sai Tamhankar. The Muzaffarpur shelter home case reportedly inspires Bhakshak. The scandal was about an NGO which was running the shelter where 34 girls, aged between 7 and 17, were raped and assaulted for months. They were given sleeping pills and were inhumanly assaulted. The perpetrators were later arrested and sentenced in 2020.


Hindi | Action | Rating: PG15

The film follows an Air Force squad that embarks on a mission to safeguard the nation from looming threats. The movie revolves around the Balakot airstrike carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in the vicinity of the town of Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone headline the film. Siddharth Anand directs the film, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi. It is Deepika’s third film with Siddharth Anand after Bachna Ae Haseeno and Pathaan. It is also Siddharth Anand’s third movie with Hrithik Roshan after Bang Bang and War.


Hindi | Action, Drama | Rating: A

What’s there to write about Animals that’s already not written about? The controversial Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, had a stormy run in the theatres. It was a success, but liberals were up against the film. The movie looks at a complex relationship between a father and son, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. The son’s love for his father knows no bounds. But it is a tempestuous relationship. Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri are also in the cast.

Sam Bahadur

Hindi | Biopic | Rating: U

The biographical war drama showcases the life of Sam Manekshaw, India’s first Field Marshal. It chronicles Manekshaw’s career, from his early days as a cadet in 1934 to his role in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, the Burma campaign during World War II, and the 1962 Sino-Indian War. It also explores his personal life and his marriage. Vicky Kaushal plays the eponymous role. Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Neeraj Kabi play other important characters.

Main Atal Hoon

Hindi | Biopic | Rating: PG13

This eponymous film is about the life and times of India’s former prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a widely admired and respected leader in his own right. Helmed by Ravi Jadhav, the biopic also focuses on the popular poetic side of the politician. Award-winning actor Pankaj Tripathi plays the role of Vajpayee. This has piqued the curiosity of many, as Pankaj is among the stellar actors in India now. 

The film also focuses on several major moments in Vajpayee’s political career, including the Emergency, the Babri Masjid demolition, the Pokhran nuclear test and much more. The film also stars Piyush Mishra, Raja Rameshkumar Sevak, Daya Shankar Pandey, Pramod Pathak, Paayal Kapoor Nair, Harshad Kumar, Prasanna Ketkar, Haresh Khatri, Paula McGlynn, Gauri Sukhtankar.

Merry Christmas

Hindi/Tamil | Thriller | Rating: PG15

Merry Christmas has been shot in two languages — Hindi and Tamil — with different supporting actors. Starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, the film is directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani, and Kewal Garg. The combination of Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif in the movie has been the subject of much discussion. The Hindi version features Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand. On the other hand, the Tamil version stars Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. The film is said to be a romantic thriller.  Two strangers meet and fall in love right away. However, what starts out as a pleasant romance quickly takes a turn for the worse.

Kangana Ranaut takes on the lead role of Indian Air Force pilot Tejas Gill, on a mission to save hostages from Pakistan. Billed as India’s first air action film, Tejas takes the audience on a patriotic ride. Directed by Sarwesh Mewara, the action thriller also features Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, and Ashish Vidyarthi in supporting roles. The movie had an average run in its theatrical run.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan

Hindi | Young Drama | Rating: 18TC

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan examines what it’s like to share friendships in the digital age, even as the photos grow shallower by the day. This is a coming-of-age movie that follows three close friends navigating through the complexities of modern relationships, social media personas, and personal ambitions. It is woven around the impact of social media on our lives. It stars Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Adarsh Gourav in lead roles.

Three Of Us

Hindi | Drama | Rating: UA

Three of us is about a dementia-afflicted middle-aged woman who decides to revisit her childhood village with her husband. As it happens, her childhood lover joins them. Directed by Avinash Arun, the movie stars Shefali Shah, Swanand Kirkire, and Jaideep Ahlawat in main roles. 

The film is a delicate thread of emotions about love, loss, healing, awareness and liberation. The woman seeks closure in life before she runs out of memory. Three of Us earned a spot on the list of 25 films selected for the Indian Panorama 2022 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year.

Shastry Virudh Shastry

Hindi | Drama | Rating: U

Shastry Viruddh Shastry is about grandparents who take care of their grandchild. But issues crop up between the oldies and their son who comes back and stakes claim his son. The grandfather is adamant and puts up a court battle, refusing to part with the child.  Paresh Rawal and Neena Kulkarni play the grandparents. The film, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee, also features Amruta Subhash, Manoj Joshi, Neena Kulkarni and Shiv Pandit.


Hindi | Comedy, Drama | Rating: PG13

Dunki marks the maiden collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Dunki, going by the production house’s spiel, is a tale of four friends and their quest to reach foreign shores. Drawn from real-life experiences, it is said to be a saga of love and friendship, which is peppered with hilarious and heart-breaking moments.

Dunki is Shah Rukh’s third film of the year. Earlier this year, he entertained audiences with his action-packed roles in Pathaan and Jawan. Produced by Shah Rukh and wife Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki boasts an ensemble cast featuring talented actors like Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover. The film’s screenplay is by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon.

The film also has Shah Rukh turning up as an old man. This is his second character as an old man after Vikram Rathore in Atlee’s Jawan earlier this year.

Dry Day

Hindi | Comedy | Rating: PG15

This comedy-drama that unfolds in the Hindi heartland and is about a small-time goon who embarks on a journey against the system. Amidst the emotional quest to earn the trust and love of his family, he not only confronts the external challenges but also struggles with his own insecurities and issue of alcoholism. Directed by Saurabh Shukla and produced by Nikkhil Advani, Monisha Advani, and  Madhu Bhojwani of Emmay Entertainment, the film features Jitendra Kumar, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Annu Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film will also be available in dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Tiger 3

Action | Rating: PG13

The film marks the return of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif as Avinash Singh Rathore (Tiger) and Zoya Humaini-Rathore, respectively, who we first saw in Ek Tha Tiger (2014).

This fifth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe and the third in the Tiger franchise is the sequel to Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). But Tiger 3 has events that are also linked to events in War (2019) and Pathaan (2023). 

Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the story revolves around Kaif and Khan’s characters being framed as traitors. The spy thriller features Emraan Hashmi as the main antagonist and also stars Revathi, Riddhi Dogra and Ranvir Shorey, with reported cameos by Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.

Mast Mein Rehne Ka

Drama | Rating: UA

This slice-of-life film is written and directed by Vijay Maurya and delves into the parallel universes of two distinct generations. It is based on universal themes of second chances in love and life, forgiveness, and redemption.

It features Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta in the lead roles, alongside Abhishek Chauhan, Monika Panwar, Rakhi Sawant and Faisal Malik in pivotal characters. Mast Mein Rehne Ka will also be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada in dubbed versions.
