Film AlUla is a film agency in Saudi Arabia committed to developing the North Western Alula region into an international filming destination by fostering a film-friendly ecosystem. Its program ‘AlUla Creates‘ is designed to nurture talent and stimulate creative growth in film, arts, and fashion.
Actress and director Katie Holmes is lending her expertise to a mentorship program for Saudi female filmmakers. Announced at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival, the program is part of the second phase of ‘AlUla Creates,’ an initiative by Film AlUla.

‘AlUla Creates’ is designed to nurture talent and stimulate creative growth in film, arts, and fashion. The next step in this initiative will see Holmes mentor three promising Saudi female filmmakers over the next year.
The mentorship will begin with a trip to AlUla where the group will conceptualise a short film. The winning concept will be announced later this year, and production will start in Q1 2024.
The first phase of ‘AlUla Creates’ debuted in March 2023 at the 95th Academy Awards, spotlighting fashion designed by Saudi female designers in collaboration with Helena Christensen and Eva Herzigova.
