Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film is based on the book The Burning Chaffees, written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta on the intense 48-hour Battle of Garibpur, during the Indo-pak war of 1971. This was pivotal for Bangladesh’s independence struggle. The film gets its title from the amphibious war tank PT-76, popularly known as Pippa . It stars Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in pivotal roles

Pippa is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Ponniyin Selvan 2

This is the second and concluding part of the historical drama Ponniyin Selvan by filmmaker Mani Ratnam based on the serialized novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy.  Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel have written the screenplay. The crew includes music composer AR Rahman, cinematographer Ravi Varman, editor Sreekar Prasad, production designer Thota Tharani and costume designer Eka Lakhani. The sprawling cast comprises Vikram, Trish.

Ugram is the story of a determined police officer who investigates a series of missing persons in Warangal. Tragedy strikes when the cop, his wife and their daughter meet with an accident. While he is injured, his wife and child suddenly go missing. Driven by love and desperation, he embarks on a mission to locate his family, unravelling shocking secrets. Directed by Vijay Kanakamedala and produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi, Ugram features Allari Naresh, Mirnaa Menon, Indraja and Sharath Lohitashwa in the lead roles.

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum features Fahadh Faasil as a happy-go-lucky man who goes about his life unfussily and devotes himself to keeping those around him happy.

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum also stars Viji Venkatesh, Anjana Jayaprakash, Dhwani Rajesh, Mukesh, Vineeth, Indrans, Althaf Salim, Mohan Agashe, Chhaya Kadam, Piyush Kumar, Abhiram Radhakrishnan and Avyukth Menon, among others.

The late actor Innocent appears as a character who is fascinated by technology. Director Akhil Sathyan also serves as the editor and writer of the movie. Justin Prabhakaran has composed its music. The movie has been shot in Kerala, Mumbai, and Goa locations.

Pathu Thala

Pathu Thala revolves around the policeman who investigates the abduction of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. He suspects a feared gangster. But he’s unable to gather evidence due to his stronghold in the sand-mining industry. To solve this case, the cop decides to go undercover and steadily makes his way into the trusted circle of the don.

But the shocking revelations that he unveils along the way shake his very resolve, making him question everything he knows. Directed by Obeli N Krishna, Pathu Thala stars Gautham Karthik and Silambarasan in the leads.

Ravanasura

Any Ravi Teja movie is bound to be a mass entertainer. This one, too is no exception.  The story is about a criminal lawyer who masterminds many mysterious murders. Why? To figure that out, a cop follows the case with diligence. And what he finds is a major surprise.

The cast includes Ravi Teja, Sushanth, Jayaram, Murali Sharma, Anu Emmanuel and Megha Akash. The film is directed by Sudheer Varma. The film had an average run in its theatrical run.

Bakaasuran

Bakasuran is about exploiting young school and college-going girls via online racketeers. It stars Selvaragavan, Natty, Radhav Ravi, Tarakshi Thenappan, and Devadarshini, among others. The director of Bakasuran, Mohan G, is known to handle controversial subjects centred on caste issues in Tamil Nadu.  The film had an average outing during its theatrical run.

The story is a feel-good emotional one about a single parent. Two final-year college students become parents accidentally. Situations separate them, with one of them being forced to raise the baby. The struggles and battles that follow are told in a fun and sentimental way.

Directed by Ganesh K Babu, the film stars Kavin, Aparna Das and the veteran Bhagyaraj, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran, VTV Ganesh, Pradeep Antony and Harish K, among others.

Adrishyam had its theatrical run last year, so it means it has taken its time to reach the OTT. The film is a bilingual release – it is Adrishyam in Malayalam and Yuki in Tamil. Directed by Zac Harriss, the film is a thriller and stars Narain, Joju George, Sharafudheen, Anandi Athmiya Rajan, Pratap Pothen, John Vijay, Munish Kant, Sinil Sainudeen, Vinodini, Anjali Rao and Bindu Sanjeev. The Tamil version stars Kathir and Natty.

Thankam

Coming close on the heels of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Gold, Thankam, which also means gold, has Biju Menon and Vineeth Srinivasan in the leads. The latter is fresh after the success of Mukundan UnniAssociates. Aparna Balamurali and Girish Kulkarni are also in the cast.

Directed by Saheed Arafath, Thankam is a murder thriller set in the backdrop of the gold business in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. National award winner Syam Pushkaran has scripted the film. Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran have jointly produced the movie. It is a gripping movie that is worth your watch.
