Telugu | Comedy | Rating: 18TC

Martin Luther King

Directed by Puja Kolluru in her debut, the film is a political satire featuring Sampoornesh Babu in the lead while VK Naresh and Sharanya Pradeep play key roles. This is the Telugu adaptation of director Madonne Ashwin’s Tamil political satire Mandela (2021) starring Yogi Babu, which was highly praised. The story is about a barber whose single vote becomes crucial in a local election that is keenly contested by two factions in a village. The Tamil original was noted for its organic humour and biting political wit.

Aadikeshava

Aadikeshava promises an all-out action and commercial entertainer. It stars Panja Vaisshnav Tej in the male lead and Sreeleela as the female lead. Joju George plays the antagonist. Aparna Das, who was last seen in the Tamil film Dada also stars in a significant role. The film marks both Joju George’s and Aparna’s debut in Telugu. The film is written and directed by Srikanth N Reddy.

Mangalavaram

Mangalavaram is said to be a horror-thriller starring Payal Rajput in the lead role. The movie is co-written, produced, and directed by Ajay Bhupathi. This is the first pan-India film for the director and the actress after their hit ‘RX 100.’ Mangalavaram also features Azmal, Ajay Ghosh, Nanditha Swetha, Giridhar in important roles. Kantara fame Ajneesh has scored the music.

Keedaa Cola

Tharun Bhascker made an impressive debut with the film Pelli Choopulu. He followed it up with Emaindi Ee Nagaraniki, which was also lapped up by cine buffs. Now, after a five-year hiatus, Tharun is returning with Keedaa Cola, a crime comedy. The film stars Chaitanya Rao, Rag Mayur, Brahmanandam, Ravindra Vijay, Vishnu Oi, Jeevan Kumar,  ‘Roadies’ Raghu Ram and Tharun Bhascker himself.

Maa Oori Polimera 2

After a good response to the rural thriller Maa Oori Polimera  — it released directly on Disney+ Hotstar — director Anil Vishwanath is returning with the film’s sequel Polimera 2. Satyam Rajesh, Getup Srinu, Baladitya, Kamakshi Bhaskarla play key roles in the sequel. The film will start exactly where the prequel ended. It is billed as a continuation.

Ram Pothineni headlines the film while Sreeleela, Saiee Manjrekar play the female leads.  Gauthami, Srikanth, Indraja, Prince Cecil and Sharath Lohitashwa essay key roles in the film. The commercial mass masala has Boyapati Sreenu as the director. The entertainer is packed with high-voltage action, family sentiment and power-packed dialogues.

The show airs on Disney+ Hotstar.

Bhagavanth Kesari

Bhagavanth Kesari is an action drama set in Telangana backdrop starring Nandamuri Balakrishna. with him in the lead, you know it’ll be an all-out mass masala. This time, it is going to be about women’s empowerment. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Sreeleela. Arjun Rampal, in his Telugu debut, is playing the film’s antagonist. Bhagavanth Kesari is written and directed by Anil Ravipudi who usually requires comedy films. This is his first all-out action film. Thaman has scored the music for the film.

Tiger Nageswara Rao

This Ravi Teja starrer will be an all-out action commercial entertainer.  The film is a biographical thriller on the life of a criminal named Nageswara Rao, who terrorized a large part of south India during the 1970s. He was a local legend known for his ingenious tactics against the police. The story follows his thrilling exploits. MAD

MAD is a typical campus comedy caper set in an engineering college. Though it is about college buddies, there is no sappy mythologising of friendship.

The film is written and directed by Kalyan Shankar and stars, among others, Narne Nithin, Sangeeth Shoban, Ram Nithin, Gouri Priya Reddy, Anananthika Sanil Kumar, Gopikaa Udyan, Raghu Babu, Muralidhar Goud, Vishnu, Anthony and Srikanth Reddy. MAD is the maiden film of producer Haarika Suryadevara, the younger sister of well-known producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.

Prema Vimanam

There are two facets to the story. One is about the challenges faced by a couple deeply in love. And the other is about two children desperately yearning for a flight experience. The film, released directly on streamer, is directed and written by Santosh Kata. It features Devansh Nama, Anirudh Nama, Sangeet Shobhan, Vennela Kishore, Saanvee Megghana, and Anasuya Bharadwaj in pivotal roles.

Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty

Directed by Mahesh Babu Pachigolla, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty stars Anushka Shetty and Naveen Polishetty in the lead roles. It is Anushka Shetty’s theatrical film five years after Bhaagamathie. The film follows Miss Shetty and Mr Polishetty — she is a dedicated cook who takes the profession seriously,  and he is a stand-up comedian who is flippant in his approach. They have a contrasting outlook towards relationships, marriage and other aspects. The comedic entertainer follows their lives and the issues they face due to their attitudes. The film had a good run at the theatres.

Kushi

This romantic drama has the young and happening Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the leads. The Telugu movie, also dubbed in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, has Vijay as Viplav and Samantha as Aradhya, who fall in love in Kashmir. The songs, dripping with youthful enthusiasm, are all a hit. This is a Hesham Abdul Wahab musical  Written and directed by Shiva Nirvana. The inter-faith love story is also a relationship drama. The film also stars Jayaram, Sachin Khedakar, Murali Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna and Saranya. Samantha had earlier worked with Nirvana in the 2019 film Majili.

Bhola Shankar

Bhola Shankar is the official remake of Ajith’s 2015 Tamil film  Vedalam. It is a mass entertainer about how a big brother (a reformed gangster) clandestinely keeps saving his sister. Here Chiranjeevi plays the lead while Keerthy Suresh is his sister on screen. Tamannaah Bhatia is his pair.  The film also stars Raghu Babu, Murali Sharma, Ravi Shankar, Vennela Kishore, Tulasi, Sri Mukhi, Bithiri Sathi, Satya, Getup Srinu, Rashmi Gautam, and Uttej. Chiranjeevi’s previous release, Waltair Veerayya, was just about passable. Bhola Shankar is Meher Ramesh’s directorial debut. The film tanked at the box-office.

Ramabanam

Director Sriwass had previously worked with Gopichand in the films Lakshyam and Loukyam, both of which were big hits. Ramabanam is about two brothers —- this is where the angle of Ramayanam comes in. Aside from Gopichand, the film stars Jagapathi Babu, Dimple Hayathi, Nassar, Sachin Khedekar, Khushbu Sundar, Vennela Kishore, Ali, Saptagiri, Raja Ravindra, and Satya Akkala. The movie is a typical Telugu family entertainer.
