Chupa tells the journey of a young boy named Alex as he travels from Kansas City to Mexico, searching for his family roots. As Alex visits his grandfather’s ranch, he soon sees a rare, mythological creature called a chupacabra. Giving it the nickname “Chupa,” Alex instantly bonds with the creature and soon joins him on his journey. The two soon find themselves being chased by scientists who want to study Chupa.
The journey also brings the two closer together and discover more about their friendship as Alex learns valuable lessons about loyalty, bravery, and believing in yourself. It captures the perfect bond between man and animal and how friendship can conquer anything.
Directed by Jonás Cuarón, son of Academy Award-winner Alfonso Cuarón and starring Demián Bichir, Christian Slater, Evan Whitten, Ashley Ciarra, and Nicolas Verdugo. The same team behind Harry Potter, Chris Columbus and Mark Radcliffe, also produces it.
