This week is packed with news shows on the OTT platforms. Titles like Scoop, Vishwak and School of Lies are clamouring for your attention. They all look promising, at least going by the trailers.
In the cinema halls, movies like Thrishanku, Kather Basha Endra Muthuramalingam, Veeran and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke are set to arrive this week. They are not star-heavy. But they, too, look attractive. With the IPL season coming to a close, we can expect bigger releases to arrive in the coming weeks.

Veeran

Billed as a superhero film, Veeran stars Hiphop Tamizha Adhi in the lead. He plays a superhero, and the story revolves around a temple in a village, which a greedy businessman wants to demolish for selfish reasons. Vinay Rai plays the antagonist, while Athira Raj, Munishkanth and Kaali Venkat, among others essay vital roles. Adhi himself composed music for Veeran. The film is directed by ARK Saravanan, who previously helmed Maragadhan Naanayam. Veeran marks Adhi’s third collaboration with Sathya Jyothi Films, who are the producers after Sivakumarin Sabadham and Anbarivu.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke

Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is a romantic comedy set in Indore that chronicles the life of young lovers who tie the knot happily. But after that, life intercedes, and the middle-class couple looks for divorce. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar, who previously helmed the Kriti Sanon starrer Mimi (2021). Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal star in the leads. Sharib Hashmi, Sushmita Mukherjee, Rakesh Bedi, Inaamulhaq and Neeraj Sood are also in the cast.

The series is inspired by actual events and Jigna Vora’s book Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison. Written by Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul and Mirat Trivedi, the human drama features a talented cast, including Karishma Tanna, Harman Baweja, Ravi Mahashabde, Zeeshan Aayub, and Prosenjit Chatterjee. The series is directed by the hot-shot Hansal Mehta, whose previous outing Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story was a big success.
School of Lies

Set around the mystery of a missing 12-year-old child, School of Lies showcases youngsters’ journey in a boarding school. Produced by BBC Studios India, The trailer introduces us to a boarding school where a 12-year-old boy goes missing. Starring Nimrat Kaur as the school counsellor, the series also has Varin Roopani, Divyansh Dwivedi, Aryan Singh Ahlawat, Hemant Kher, Parthiv Shetty, Adrija Sinha, and Aalekh Kapoor in prominent roles. Based on true events, this show unveils what goes on behind the closed doors of boarding schools. It is created by Ishani Banerjee and Avinash Arun Dhaware, and directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware.
Thrishanku

The film has an interesting premise: two young lovers are about elope. But on the appointed day, things go awry — the man’s sister elopes with her boyfriend. There is confusion and chaos. This forms the backdrop to the fun love story. Anna Ben and Arjun Ashokan headline the cast. Trishanku also stars Suresh Krishna, Zarin Shihab, Nandhu, Fahim Safar, and Shiva Hariharan. Matchbox Shots, the makers of Andhadhun and Monica O My Darling, have produced the film in association with Lacuna Pictures and Clocktower Pictures and Co. Debutant Achyuth Vinayak directs the film.
