And no wonder his new Hindi film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the leads, is creating quite a bit of buzz. The trailer of the film has been a talking point on social media platforms. This Hindi movie arrives in the theatres this week.

Animal

A Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial with problematic dialogues and scenes, that is what we got in the trailer. And that is what he is known for. Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri, looks to be an exciting action thriller that explores the complex relationship between a father and son duo. Written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, of Kabir Singh fame, the film promises some thrilling moments. The pre-booking for the film is said to be very high.

Annapoorni

After sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan, Nayanthara headlines Nilesh Krishnaa’s directorial debut Annapoorani – The Goddess of Food. The film is her 75th outing, and also stars Jai, Sathyaraj, KS Ravikumar, and Redin Kingsley, while the music has been composed by S Thaman.  The plot of the flick revolves around a girl born in an orthodox family who aspires to become a chef. She has to overcome various challenges to achieve her dream in the culinary world.

Antony

Antony has Joju George playing a hardened, brutal cop, a role that he is not totally new to. The film’s tease also has footage of Kalyani Priyadarshan in boxing attire. Looks like that she is also in a role that requires action. The film, directed by the veteran Joshiy, also stars Nyla Usha Chemban Vinod Jose, Vijayaraghavan, Asha Sarath, Jewel Mary, Appani Sarath, Tini Tom, RJ Shaan, Jinu Joseph, Giju John Padmaraj Ratheesh, Rajesh Sharma and Srikant Murali. Antony marks a reunion for Joju, Joshiy, Chemban, and Nyla after their 2019 film Porinju Mariam Jose.

Parking

Parking, as the name suggests, is about the issue of parking (cars) in a house. It is the clash between two strong-willed tenants of a house as to who gets to park their vehicles inside the compound. The issue snowballs into a major flashpoint. The young and talented Harish Kalyan headlines the film. The thriller drama film, directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, also features Indhuja Ravichandran and MS Bhaskar in pivotal roles. Prathana Nathan, Rama Rajendra and Ilavarasu are also in the cast.

Dance Party

Dance Party stars Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sreenath Bhasi, Shine Tom Chacko, Jude Antony and Prayaga Martin in lead roles. Directed by Sohan Seenulal, the story is said to be a comedy caper. The film revolves around the members of a dance team preparing to participate in a big stage show. But things go haywire due to various reasons. This movie marks Sohan Seenulal’s sophomore directorial after Bharatha Circus. The film also features an ensemble cast including Fukru, Jude Anthony Joseph, Saju Navodaya, Lena, Prayaga Martin, Shraddha Gokul, Jolly Chirayat and Preeti.

Maharani

Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, Johny Antony and Nisha Sarang play a family in director G Marthandan’s comedy entertainer. The film is set in Alappuzha district and revolves around the series of mishaps that happen in the neighborhood. Shine Tom Chacko and Roshan Mathew play brothers whose bond is akin to best friends, with no secrets between them. Maharani also addresses several subjects such as casteism, political violence and male chauvinism.

Dhootha

This is Telugu web series marks the digital debut of star Naga Chaitanya. He plays journalist Sagar whose life is changed after he unravels dark secrets behind newspapers predicting tragedies. He becomes a murder suspect, racing against time to clear his name. The supernatural suspense thriller also marks Parvathy Thiruvothu’s entrance into Telugu entertainment space. Prachi Desai and Sathyapriya Bhavani Shankar are also in the cast of this series directed by Vikram K Kumar, a man known for, among others, the underrated Tamil movie 24 (which was also sci-fi).

Dhootha is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Telugu | Comedy | Rating: 18TC

Martin Luther King

Directed by Puja Kolluru in her debut, the film is a political satire featuring Sampoornesh Babu in the lead while VK Naresh and Sharanya Pradeep play key roles. This is the Telugu adaptation of director Madonne Ashwin’s Tamil political satire Mandela (2021) starring Yogi Babu, which was highly praised. The story is about a barber whose single vote becomes crucial in a local election that is keenly contested by two factions in a village. The Tamil original was noted for its organic humor and biting political wit.
