A remake of the highly successful Tamil film Kaithi, Bholaa stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, and Gajraj Rao. Ajay Devgn is not just playing the lead in the movie but has also directed the film. This is his fourth film as a director.
The story is about an ex-convict who is on the way to meet his daughter for the first time upon his release. But en route, he gets caught in a face-off between police and the drug mafia. The original, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, got rave reviews for its slick, raw action sequences. The Hindi film is being released in a 3D version too.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, who specializes in such hot-button topics, the movie follows a police officer conflicted between duty and his conscience during the pandemic.

This is Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen after a gap of five years. The film, a typical action adventure involving an Indian spy, is directed by Siddharth Anand (who has made films like Bang Bang and War before). Deepika Padukone is the female lead, while John Abraham plays the antagonist in Pathaan.
Ashutosh Rana, Dimple Kapadia, Siddhant Ghegadmal and Gautam Rode are also in the cast. The film’s music is composed by Vishal–Shekhar, and the score is composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara. The film was a big box-office success when released in the last week of January.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga

Zwigato
The film, which stars comedian Kapil Sharma in the lead, recently premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival and was screened at Toronto and Kerala film festivals. Directed by the actress Nandita Das, Zwigato shows the journey of a man who lost his job during the pandemic.
Applause Entertainment sponsors the film and the story is about an ex-factory floor manager who becomes a food delivery person to make ends meet. The title Zwigato seems to be a mix of Zomato and Swiggy, the two popular food delivery platforms. Shahana Goswami plays the female lead.

The interesting story of Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, two eminent scientists of India, had a great canvas in Rocket Boys season one. The movie is co-produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Luv Ranjan. Three wayward gangs accidentally cross paths on a soggy night in Mumbai’s suburbs. They are after the same target – a van carrying crores of cash.

The show marks the debut of Kriti Sanon’s sister Nupur Sanon who plays Kemmu’s love interest in the series. Helmed by Farhad Samjhi, Pop Kaun is also the recently demised Satish Kaushik’s last outing as an actor.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s much-anticipated Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is billed as a romantic comedy. The two characters fall in love but struggle to break up as they are hamstrung by difficult situations.
Directed by Luv Ranjan, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar also stars Anubhav Singh Bassi in a crucial role. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is jointly bankrolled by Luv Ranjan and T-Series. The music is by Pritam, and a couple of songs that have been released are already chart-toppers. The dance by the lead pair is pulsating.

Rana Naidu
Telugu star Venkatesh Daggupati teams up with his nephew Rana Daggubati in Rana Naidu, which is the official adaptation of the American series Ray Donovan. The story is about the eponymous Rana Naidu, the go-to guy for everyone in Bollywood when they have a problem, and his tense equation with his estranged father.
Karan Anshuman and Suparn Varma have co-directed this Hindi web show. The cast members include Ashish Vidyarthi, Abhishek Banerjee, Priya Banerjee, Gaurav Chopra and Sushant Singh.

Gulmohar
This family drama revolves around the members of the Batra family, who decide to shift to a new home, which is located in another city (Pondicherry). Directed by Rahul V Chittella, the film marks the digital debut of veteran Sharmila Tagore. Taj: Divided by Blood
This historical tale is that of emperor Akbar, who sparks a war among his sons in an attempt to find a worthy successor to himself. The series will re-creates the period of Mughal invasion of India and the conflicts triggered by them, and the politics within their empire. The series features Dharmendra, Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rahul Bose, Zarina Wahab, Sandhya Mridul and Aashim Gulati in significant roles.

Selfiee
In a season of Hindi remakes of Southern hits, this one is a reprise of the Malayalam movie Driving License that had Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the leads. This one is headlined by Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi. Selfiee is helmed by Raj Mehta and is about a superstar who visits the RTO to renew his driver’s license. However, a misunderstanding with the RTO officer leads to a vexed feud between the two and becomes a sensation for the media. Selfiee also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Diana Penty and Mrunal Thakur.

Potluck 2
The modern urban family drama Potluck, in its first season, was widely welcomed. The show, which is about a whacky family’s weekly get-together over potluck, starred Kitu Gidwani, Jatin Sial, Cyrus Sahukar, Ira Dubey, Harman Singha, Saloni Khanna, Shikha Talsania, and Siddhant Karnick.
Now, the second season has arrived and the Shastri family members deal with significant life issues. One person has lost his job; another is struggling to take care of his children without his wife. The series takes up the issues of time management, career and family balancing, raising children as a working parent and such. The show is directed by Rajshree Ojha.

Yami Gautam’s recent movies like A Thursday and Dasavi were all direct-on-OTT releases. Her latest, Lost is no different. This thriller, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, revolves around a crime reporter, who is exposed to a whole new world of politics, love and betrayal.
Yami plays the role of Riddhi Sahani, the crime reporter in question, who sleuths around to know the reason behind the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist (Ishan Bharti) played by Tushar Pandey. Apart from Yami and Tushar, the film also stars Pankaj Kapur, Neil Bhoopalam, Rahul Khanna and Pia Bajpiee.

Actor Ranveer Singh and director Rohit Shetty. You don’t get bigger names in Bollywood than the duo. The hot-shot combo re-united for commercial family entertainer Cirkus, which is the first time Ranveer is doing an out-and-out comedy role along with playing a double role.
The film’s story is mostly about comedy of errors due to identity mistakes. Cirkus also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Murli Sharma. Rohit Shetty and Ranveer had previously worked together in Simmba and Sooryavanshi.

The film is actress Kajol’s first big release in almost two years, and it also marks actress Revathy’s return to the director’s chair after more than a decade. Salaam Venky is inspired by the true story of Venkatesh, a young boy who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and his mother Sujata. Kajol plays the role of Sujata, while Vishal Jethwa stars as Venkatesh. The film also stars Aahana Kumra, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Anant Mahadevan in crucial roles. The film, a typical action adventure involving an Indian spy, is to be placed in the Gulf region. Directed by Siddharth Anand (who has made films like Bang Bang and War before), Pathaan is believed to be part of the YRF spy universe (Yash Raj Films). YRF spy universe is centred on a series of spy action-thriller films produced by Yash Raj Films, which feature various fictional RAW agents.
Pathaan is said to feature an extended cameo appearance by Avinash Singh Rathore aka Tiger (Salman Khan) from Ek Tha Tiger. Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh
The period drama is said to explore what would have happened if Mahatma Gandhi had lived after the assassination attempt by Nathuram Godse. The sensitive nature of the subject has triggered many controversies. The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, whose last release was a decade ago with the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Phata Poster Nikhla Hero in 2013. The film has Deepak Antani and Chinmay Mandlekar reprising the characters of Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse respectively.

An Action Hero
The film, starring the ever-experimenting Ayushmann Khurrana, is the story of a screen action hero who is leading a life in hiding following a film shoot mishap that puts paid to his acting career. Jaideep Ahlawat and Jitender Hooda are also in the cast. Akshay Kumar has a guest role in the film which also has two item numbers from Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi. The film, when it was released in theatres in December last, got good reviews but did not do all that well at the box office. Debutant Anirudh Iyer directed the film, that is produced by Anand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar.

Recently we had the Hindi film Janhit Mein Jaari in which Nushrratt Bharuccha played a woman who has to sell condoms in a small town in MP. Rakul Preet Singh is in the same territory in Chhatriwali. In this slice-of-life drama set in Haryana, she spreads the message of male contraceptives and safe sex.
Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, Rakul plays a quality control head in a condom factory. The story is a social comedy to destigmatize taboos surrounding the use of condoms and sex education. The film also stars Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang, Prachee Shah Paandya, Rakesh Bedi and Riva Arora, among others. This is also a straight-on-OTT release.

Mission Majnu
The film is based on the Indo-Pak tensions in the 1970s, and it stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The espionage thriller has Sidharth Malhotra essaying the role of a RAW agent who leads a covert operation on Pakistani soil.
The film also marks Rashmika Mandanna’s second film in Hindi after Goodbye. Actor Ashwath Bhatt, who featured in Khuda Hafiz 2 and Sita Ramam recently, plays General Zia ul Haq, the ex-dictator of Pakistan. Cinema Marte Dum Tak is a reality docu-series that follows four performers of the 90s – J Neelam, Vinod Talwar, Dilip Gulati and Kishan Shah who don the director’s hat again to relive the magic and fandom of the pulp movies. The docu-series takes audiences behind the scenes as the four come back for their swan songs, to make a film using the similar budgets and themes from 30 years ago. The 6-episode series is backed by Vice Studios Production, created by filmmaker Vasan Bala, and co-directed by Disha Rindani , Xulfee and Kulish Kant Thakur.

Well-known filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s son Aasman Bhardwaj makes his directorial debut through Kuttey, which stars, among others, Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj. Produced by Luv Ranjan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ankur Garg and Rekha Bhardwaj, Kuttey has already run into controversy due to censor issues over expletives and full frontal nudity. Going by the trailer, Arjun Kapoor and Tabu play cops who get entangled with gangsters.

Trial by Fire
This web series is based on the infamous Uphaar Cinema fire in 1997 that led to the death of 59 people. Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol play Neelam and Shekhar, the couple who lost their two children to the tragedy and fought a legal battle for justice. The series is directed and showrun by Prashant Nair. The series takes off from the book ‘Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy’ by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy. The series covers the aftermath of the fire and the court proceedings. Veterans Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher and Ratna Pathak Shah along with Mirzapur and Delhi Crime fame Rajesh Tailang are also in the cast.
