Ted animated series premieres on Peacock on 17 December, launching with eight episodes; more episodes are due in 2027, IGN reported.

Deadline also reports the 17 December premiere and returning cast. The show is a sequel to the films rather than another season of Peacock’s live-action prequel.

Ted animated series: release date and story

The series picks up 12 years after Ted 2. Ted and John are now neighbours, each with a family and a dead-end job; the official synopsis says the pair will encourage one another’s bad ideas about marriage, parenting and adult life.

Peacock’s official overview describes the animated project as continuing the story after the films. The first look is built around the returning bear and John, with their adult lives replacing the live-action show’s high-school setting.

Peacock has released an official teaser on its YouTube channel.

Which cast members return for the Ted animated series?

Seth MacFarlane returns as Ted, while Mark Wahlberg voices John. Amanda Seyfried is back as John’s wife, Sam, and Jessica Barth returns as Ted’s wife, Tami-Lynn. All four reprise roles from the films.

Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman join as series regulars Apollo and Ruth. MacFarlane created the show with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh; Corrigan and Walsh are its co-showrunners. Rough Draft Studios is handling the animation, according to Deadline.

For UAE viewers, tbreak previously listed the live-action Ted Season 2 on OSN+; that listing does not confirm a local platform for the animated sequel.

How the Ted animated series differs from the live-action show

The live-action Ted series is a prequel set in the 1990s, following John during high school. The animated series moves the story forward from the films, so viewers are getting a sequel to Ted and Ted 2, not a third season of the prequel.

Do I need to watch the live-action Ted series before the animated show?

No. Peacock’s live-action Ted series is a prequel set in the 1990s, while the animated sequel picks up 12 years after Ted 2. The films provide the direct setup; the TV prequel is separate.

Has a UAE streaming service been confirmed for Ted animated series?

No UAE platform or local date appears in the announcement. Peacock is the service named for the premiere. The earlier OSN+ listing covers the live-action prequel, not local rights for the animated series.
