Meta announced on Tuesday, August 22, that it was launching the web version of its new social media platform Threads, which focuses on text-based posts. This move is geared towards attracting more professional users and competing with its social media rival, X.
Users of Threads will be able to access the platform from their computers by logging in to its website.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Threads that the web version would be available to users “over the next few days.”
With the web version power users like brands, company accounts, advertisers, and journalists can now use the platform on a much larger screen. This gives the Threads the added versatility it currently lacks with its app-only system.
Launching the web version could help Threads appeal to more power users, such as brands, company accounts, advertisers, and journalists, who can now use the platform on a larger screen.
Threads, which launched on July 5, had over 100 million sign-ups for the app within five days of its debut. However, its popularity declined as users switched to the more familiar platform X after the initial hype.
According to a report by analytics platform Similarweb, daily active users on the Android version of the Threads app fell to 10.3 million from the peak of 49.3 million in just over a month.
Meta said that it would not stop at the web version of Threads and would be adding more features to supplement this in the coming weeks.
