Samsung is gearing up to launch its latest folding phones on July 26th at the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. I’m interested to see what the tech giant has in store for us, especially since we’ve seen innovative foldable devices by the likes of Google, Motorola and Huawei since Samsung’s last update to its foldable line-up.
In fact, I wonder if that has anything to do with Samsung launching its foldable phones earlier in the year, as previous launches for Galaxy folding phones usually happened in late August.
For the first time, Samsung is hosting the Galaxy Unpacked event in its home country, South Korea. Samsung was the first mainstream company to release foldable phones, and I’ll be watching closely as Samsung unveils its newest foldable phones, which are expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 according to TechCrunch.
When and Where to Watch the Galaxy Unpacked in the UAE
Samsung is set to unveil its latest folding phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, on July 26th, 2023. The Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in Seoul, South Korea. Samsung has scheduled the launch event for 3 PM UAE local time.
Like the previous years, Samsung will live stream the event on its YouTube channel so make sure to tune in. You can click here to have the event added to your calendar.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5: What to expect
Samsung will be launching two new foldable phone models on July 26th. We can definitely expect improved specifications from both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, such as being based on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
I imagine the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will continue sporting its iconic foldable design but with some possible updates to the hinge mechanism- hopefully allowing it to fold flat like the Pixel Fold or the Huawei Mate X3.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 might have a more refined form factor and a larger external screen similar to the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. This should allow the Flip to be used more easily without opening it up.
I’m also looking forward to the potential enhancements in the camera department, as well as possible improvements in battery life.
In terms of software, Samsung has started testing its OneUI 6.0 though I’m not sure if these new foldable will launch with that or if we’ll have to wait for an update. Samsung has done well with its foldable phones adapting apps and interfaces to work seamlessly across different screen sizes and orientations. I expect them to continue pushing in this direction.

- The best foldable phone for most people

- External screen still too narrow
Pricing and Availability
We’ll know more about the pricing and availability of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 during the Unpacked event on July 26th. Based on previous models, I anticipate the prices will be in the premium range.
As for availability, the devices will likely hit the shelves shortly after the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26th, though the exact global release date remains unconfirmed. UAE is usually in the first-tier markets, so expect the phones to hit store shelves soon after the launch.
