Huawei has released its latest high-end smartwatch in the UAE. The Huawei Watch Ultimate is a very premium-looking watch that’s priced accordingly and builds upon all the features Huawei has offered on its smartwatches in the past.

Huawei has a great track record with smartwatches that are usually featured in my list of top smartwatches you can buy and thus, expectations from the Huawei Watch Ultimate are high.

Design and display

If there is one word that comes to mind when it comes to the design of the new Huawei Watch Ultimate, it’s stunning. The smartwatch is beautifully designed with what Huawei calls a zirconium-based Liquid Meta case and claims to be the first on a smartwatch. Compared to a stainless steel body, this is 4.5x stronger while being 17.4% lighter. Think of it as the Mithril coat worn by Frodo Baggins in LOTR.

Huawei Watch Ultimate Review

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is available in Voyage Blue and Expedition Black. The Voyage Blue has a lighter steel colour body with a beautiful blue outer bezel made of ceramic and comes with both a titanium strap and a rubber strap. The black version has a more stealthy look and only comes with the HNBR strap.

The Huawei Watch Ultra comes with a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display that can seamlessly adjust its refresh rate from as low as 1Hz for static content to 60Hz for smooth animations. This feature ensures the watch’s performance is consistently smooth. The 466 x 466 pixels provide a sharp display during daylight, while the dim mode keeps it comfortable for nighttime usage.

Features and performance

The Huawei Watch Ultra caters to the needs of regular users, professional athletes, and divers with its long list of features. The watch can monitor fundamentals like counting steps, heart rate, and stress to more sophisticated capabilities like tracking dives and long-distance hikes. There’s also an allnew expedition mode with location trackback, so you don’t lose your way. The Huawei Watch Ultimate is ATM 10 certified so it can do 100-metre water resistance during dives.

Huawei Watch Ultimate Review 2

We don’t quite know what processor Huawei has used with the Huawei Watch Ultimate or how much RAM it has, but you can store up to 2GB of music on the watch. Connectivity-wise, you have Bluetooth capabilities to connect to a headset and GPS for tracking your walks and runs. An NFC feature is also present, but you can’t use it for tap-to-pay functionality in the Middle East.

As with other Huawei watches, the Huawei Watch Ultimate is compatible with Android and iOS, meaning you can use it with almost any smartphone.

Battery & charging

As with many Huawei products, the Huawei Watch Ultra boasts an impressive battery life, making it nearly impossible to completely drain the battery even with heavy usage for over a week. Huawei claims that you can go as much as two weeks with moderate usage, which puts other Smartwatches on the market to shame.

Additionally, the battery can be fully charged in just around 60 minutes. The watch also supports Qi wireless charging for added convenience, allowing it to be charged through your phone’s reverse wireless charging capabilities- if your phone supports that.

Huawei Watch Ultimate reviews

TbreakTech has taken a first look at the Huawei Watch Ultimate and showcased some of the watch’s capabilities and functions. Daanesh liked the design and the premium finish, and the three-button layout with the crown highlighted the ease of navigating the watch. The video also showcased the water-resistant capabilities of the watch by dropping it in water.
