Design and Display
The Huawei Nova Y91 features the iconic Huawei Starry Circle design with a symmetrical axis aesthetic that we’ve seen on other flagship Huawei phones. The rear cameras are housed in the star ring, making it look sleek and futuristic.
Huawei is releasing the phone in two colours- Moonlight Silver and Starry Black- both elegant. You might think that the Nova Y91, with its large 6.95-inch screen, might be too big to be comfortable but the phone has a slim and compact body that is easy on your hands.

The Huawei Nova Y91 features a massive 6.95-inch FullView Display. The thin bezels around the display enhance the phone’s aesthetic appeal and make it feel smaller and more lightweight in hand.
The display supports a 270Hz Touch Sampling Rate and 90Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth experience when browsing online and playing games. Huawei has also added its super-resolution touch software algorithms to improve touch accuracy which will definitely help with the phone’s gaming experience.
The phone also supports the LCD Full Screen always-on display feature, the first of its kind, for easily glancing at essential information without unlocking the phone.
Features and performance
The Huawei Nova Y91 uses the Snapdragon 680 processor and comes with just one configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
There’s no 5G version on the connectivity side, and you only get LTE. There is support for Bluetooth 5.0 as well as WiFi 6. There are stereo speakers which should help with watching movies or playing games.
Like other Huawei phones from the past few years, the Nova Y91 is based on Android but does not offer Google Mobile Services and instead uses EMUI 13 with Huawei App Gallery. There has been a large number of apps added to App Gallery in the last few years, including most of the regional banks and services.
Cameras
The Huawei Nova Y91 has a 50 MP primary camera and a 2 MP depth camera. On the front, you get an 8 MP selfie camera.
The camera offers all standard camera features, such as Photo Mode, Portrait Mode, Pro Mode, Panorama Mode, Aperture Mode, Slow-Mo, High-Res Mode
Video recording is available with a maximum Full HD 1080p resolution and 30fps from the back and selfie cameras.
Battery & Charging
The Huawei Nova Y91 packs a massive 7,000 mAh battery with a 22.5W charger. The rather large battery will certainly take some time to charge but also provide you with over a day of usage- possibly two.
As with most phones in this price segment, you don’t get support for wireless charging.
Huawei Nova Y91 Reviews
The Huawei Nova Y91 is a smartphone with impressive features such as a large display, powerful battery, high-quality sound, and a premium design.
The Huawei Nova Y91 is not recommended due to its high price and lack of competitive features compared to other devices in the market.

- Beautiful design
- 100-megapixel camera
- The display is IPS, not AMOLED
- Not the best chipset
The Honor X8A can be dubbed as the Jack of all trades and master of none. It provides you with everything you’ll need without mastering any. The phone has a beautiful design that shimmers in direct light and is one of the best-looking budget phones. The Mediatek Helio G88 has decent performance in web browsing and other light tasks, but don’t expect the Honor X8A to wear any performance crowns.
