The Superhuman acquires Fathom, bringing AI-meeting intelligence into a wider productivity suite. Superhuman has acquired Fathom and plans to add its meeting intelligence to a wider productivity suite covering email, calendars, documents, databases and AI agents. The companies announced the deal on 14 September, but did not disclose financial terms.

Superhuman acquires Fathom: why it bought the notetaker

Superhuman said its users have been asking for an integrated notetaker. Fathom captures meetings, produces transcripts and summaries, identifies decisions and action items, and makes conversations searchable. Its technology also supports bot-free recording and integrations with CRMs and other work tools.

Fathom was founded in 2020 and has raised more than $30 million, according to PitchBook data cited by TechCrunch. TechCrunch reported that Fathom had more than 400,000 monthly active users and that more than 1 million people had recorded meetings with the service.

The Superhuman acquires Fathom deal lets the company add a finished meeting product rather than build one from scratch. Superhuman CEO Shishir Mehrotra said the company’s own testing showed how difficult it is to create a good notetaker across recording, transcription and the rest of the workflow.

“We’ve been working internally on this area for a while as well. I think it greatly increased our confidence in the demand in this category. It also becomes very clear how deep the products in this category are and how much you need to build.”

Meeting notes become data for AI agents

Superhuman wants Fathom’s meeting data to feed the rest of its software. The company gave the example of an agent reading a team stand-up transcript, drafting a project update in Superhuman Docs and asking a manager to approve it before the update is finalised.

That plan puts the acquisition in the same race as other productivity platforms that are trying to turn meeting transcripts into actions. TechCrunch identified Granola, Read AI and Wispr as competitors in the meeting-notetaker market, where standalone recording is increasingly being connected to email, CRM and project-management tools.

Fathom founder and CEO Richard White said Superhuman’s reach would give the product a faster route to scale. Superhuman says its platform serves more than 40 million people, 50,000 organisations and 3,000 educational institutions, although those figures cover the wider company rather than Fathom alone.

The companies have not announced a separate UAE launch date or local pricing. Existing Fathom users should not expect the acquisition to change the service immediately; Superhuman said the next stage is to connect meeting context with its broader suite and agents.
