Four minutes of Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse footage have leaked online. Sony is losing the fight to scrub it from social media.
The clips, circulating across X and other platforms, appear to be the package Sony showed behind closed doors at CinemaCon earlier this year — an opening scene, a trailer-style montage, and the film’s release date, 18 June 2027.
Writer and producer Christopher Miller has weighed in, calling the footage “unfinished” and “not fully rendered”.
The comment confirms the clips are legitimate, and suggests they are not what fans can expect in the finished movie. It is unclear how the footage reached the internet; Sony has not commented beyond issuing takedowns.
Sony has been here before. A trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaked ahead of its release, as did its post-credits scene, both drawing the same round of copyright takedowns. The current ones are having their usual effect: the clips keep reappearing faster than they can be removed.
