Google’s September Pixel Drop is rolling out to supported Pixel phones, tablets and watches with redesigned Pixel VIP widgets, Harry Potter Audiobook Packs, expanded Scam Detection and new Pixel Watch gestures. September Pixel Drop adds more useful Pixel VIP widgets
The Pixel VIPs widget now lets users call or text favourite contacts with a single tap from the home screen. It also adds notification badges and a floating navigation menu for switching between VIP profiles. The changes are available on Pixel 6 and newer phones, across regions and languages, according to Android Authority.
Google is also adding Harry Potter Audiobook Packs, which bring themed wallpapers, icons and sounds to eligible Pixel phones. The collaboration includes a two-month Audible trial for eligible users, with the offer available until 31 December 2026. Scam Detection expands beyond Google Messages
Scam Detection in Messages is expanding to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan and France, with support for English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Arabic, French and Japanese. The Messages feature is available on Pixel 6 and newer phones, excluding the Pixel Tablet.
Google is also bringing Scam Detection to notifications from other chat apps through Gboard. That wider feature is limited to the US for now, although it supports additional languages including Indonesian Bahasa and Korean.
Pixel Watch gets two gesture updates
Raise to Talk is receiving gesture-model improvements on Pixel Watch 4 and newer. One-handed gestures are expanding on Pixel Watch 3 and newer, allowing users to open and scroll through the notification tray with a pinch. Google says the September Pixel Drop is rolling out to supported Pixel hardware alongside further fixes from the Android 17 QPR1 beta programme.
The update is separate from the broader September Android update. UAE-specific availability for the new Audible offer and Scam Detection expansion remains unconfirmed.
