Qualcomm has detailed an Adreno Neural Fusion GPU for its next premium Snapdragon chip, putting dedicated Matrix Cores in the graphics pipeline and 18MB of on-chip High Performance Memory beside them.

The chipmaker published the GPU architecture on 2 September 2026, after last week’s Oryon CPU preview. 9to5Google reported the drop from Qualcomm’s materials.

What Adreno Neural Fusion puts in the GPU

Qualcomm says this will be the first Snapdragon chipset with dedicated AI GPU cores in the graphics pipeline. Matrix Cores sit in each of three 1.45GHz GPU slices and, in Qualcomm’s wording, “run advanced AI models directly inside the graphics pipeline.”

The GPU also gets 18MB of Adreno High Performance Memory. Qualcomm says that cache “provides large, low-latency memory directly to the GPU, allowing tile-based rendering, frame buffers, and compute workloads to remain local to the graphics subsystem.”

Those two pieces make up Adreno Neural Fusion. Qualcomm says a 40% power improvement comes with the technology enabled. 9to5Google attributed the figure to Qualcomm’s press materials. Android Authority reported Qualcomm as claiming up to 40% power savings compared with the previous solution.

Qualcomm’s OnQ blog listed the 2 September post as “Qualcomm Adreno Neural Fusion breaks the AI-graphics tradeoff with new hardware accelerator”.

The trick is keeping the work close to the silicon. Adreno Matrix Cores handle AI models right where the graphics happen, and the 18MB of Adreno High Performance Memory holds the heavy data—tiles, frame buffers, compute—on-chip so it isn’t constantly shuffling back and forth to system memory. Less movement means lower latency and better efficiency, which translates into gaming sessions that last longer.

Matrix Cores, Unity and Unreal Engine

A Qualcomm graphic published with the briefing shows three GPU slices clocked at 1.45GHz and an 18MB Adreno HPM block. Qualcomm says the result should be “upscaled images, stable frame rates, and improved efficiency through AI-enhanced rendering built directly into the Snapdragon graphics pipeline.”

Unity and Unreal Engine have already integrated Qualcomm’s Neural Fusion stack, Qualcomm says.

The GPU drop sits on the same next premium Snapdragon as the 5GHz Oryon CPU Qualcomm previewed on 25 August. tbreak covered that Oryon and FlexCache briefing. Qualcomm still has not published the Snapdragon product name in either preview.

Qualcomm’s investor site lists Snapdragon Summit 2026 as 22–24 September in Maui, Hawaii. Qualcomm says more on the chip’s NPU is due then.

Qualcomm has confirmed the Adreno Neural Fusion GPU architecture, the 18MB HPM figure, the 40% power claim with the technology enabled, Unity and Unreal Engine support, and the Summit dates. It has not named the Snapdragon SKU.
