Garena has announced Palworld Online, a licensed mobile take on Pocketpair’s survival hit, coming to iOS and Android in 2026. It is being developed and published by Garena — the Singapore company behind Free Fire — under an official licence from Pocketpair.
What Palworld Online actually is
It is not a straight port. Palworld Online is pitched as a “large-scale” multiplayer survival adventure built around an MMO structure: one continuous open world, a new narrative setting with original story elements, and side stories written for the mobile version. Players capture and raise Pals, form groups, build shared settlements, and take on PvE bosses or PvP matches together. Garena promises a streamlined, touch-friendly interface with optional one-tap controls.
“Palworld is a widely recognized IP, and we see an opportunity to bring the essence of the PC title to mobile in a way that encourages players to connect and venture together,” said Garena president Terry Zhao. “Working closely with Pocketpair, we are focused on preserving the depth, immersion, and freedom that define Palworld, while thoughtfully optimising the experience for mobile play.”
Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe framed the deal as a division of labour: “Garena has extensive experience in global publishing, localisation, and live operations for mobile games. We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online.”
The interesting part is who is not making it
Pocketpair is not building the mobile game. The studio has spent much of the last two years saying it is desperate to hire to keep up with Palworld’s own demands, and this announcement quietly takes mobile off its plate entirely. Garena, for its part, has the live-ops record — Free Fire has run for years on the same model of regular updates and regional events.
The licence also lands while Palworld’s legal story is still settling. Nintendo’s 2024 patent suit against Pocketpair was narrowed to older versions sold in Japan, with potential damages capped at roughly $30,000. A licensed Garena-developed MMO keeps the Palworld brand expanding without adding to Pocketpair’s own workload.
More details, including the launch window beyond “2026”, are promised later. When Palworld Online does land, it will be a standard App Store and Google Play release, so UAE players should be able to pick it up the same day as everyone else.
