Netflix has released the official trailer for Obsess, a Kuwaiti psychological horror series that launches on October 30. The show arrives during Halloween week for Arabic-language horror fans across the Gulf. It’s described as a story of love, guilt and revenge in which the past refuses to stay buried.
The story follows Talal (Yagoub Alfarhan), who returns to Kuwait after his father’s death and starts seeing visions of Hessa (Haya Abdulsalam), the woman he once loved. Netflix says what starts as guilt over an unresolved past turns darker, and Talal begins to doubt whether Hessa exists only in his head or whether something more sinister has welcomed him home. Netflix’s title page puts it more briefly: a man who unknowingly wanders back into the cursed clutches of an obsessive relationship.
The trailer also widens the focus beyond Talal. His wife, Mona (Laila Abdallah), is the mother of his child, and she tries to keep the family together as he grows distant and suspicious. She is pulled into a darkness she doesn’t fully understand. Hessa’s side of the story gets attention too, with the trailer hinting at the betrayal and loss that shaped her. The question shifts from why Talal can’t let go of her to what she has done to make sure he never will.
Netflix’s press release says Obsess is set in 1970s Kuwait. Said El Marouk directs from a script by Eyad Saleh, and Shasha produces and also developed the story. Hussein Almansour, Ibrahim Alharbi, Asmahan Tawfik, Ghada Al Mulla, Hussain Alhaddad and Abdulla Alblooshi round out the cast.

Local horror is still rare on the platform. Kuwait-focused site 248am says it hadn’t previously come across a locally produced horror series, and that Shasha describes this as its biggest production yet. The same site lists the Arabic title as النفس المطمئنة and says it hasn’t yet confirmed whether English subtitles will be available.
Netflix hasn’t announced an episode count or runtime in the material released so far. The series will be available only on Netflix from October 30.
