DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is out now, the headline of NVIDIA’s Gamescom announcements. The update to NVIDIA’s AI-powered denoiser is available through the NVIDIA app in early access, with the full release due in September.

Ray Reconstruction replaces the hand-tuned denoisers used in ray-traced and path-traced games with an AI model trained on NVIDIA’s supercomputers, reconstructing the pixels in the parts of a frame where rays were not sampled. The new second-generation transformer model packs 35% more compute and 20% more parameters than its predecessor at similar performance, and can be applied to 30 games through the app’s override settings. Driver 580.88 or newer is required. It is the last of the DLSS 4.5 suite to ship, and unlike the multi-frame generation that arrived with DLSS 4.5’s launch, it works across the whole RTX range.

RTX Mega Geometry debuts in Gears of War: E-Day

Gears of War: E-Day ships on October 6 with DLSS 4.5, ray tracing and Reflex, and becomes the first game to use RTX Mega Geometry. That is NVIDIA’s fix for an Unreal Engine 5 quirk: when Nanite geometry is ray-traced, it falls back to a single low-detail mesh, so shadows and reflections stop matching what is on screen.

NVIDIA’s engineers spent six years on the solution. After debuting in Gears, it will be codified into Microsoft’s DirectX Raytracing 2.0 (DXR 2.0) standard — a proprietary feature, becoming the industry’s.

Path tracing is coming to CONTROL Resonant, launching September 24, and to 007 First Light on September 15. CONTROL Resonant is also bundled with qualifying RTX 50-series cards and laptops.

RTX Remix gains DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction

The RTX Remix modding platform now supports DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation. A substantial Painkiller RTX update is live on GOG, remastering the first 15 levels of the 2004 shooter and trimming the download from 57GB to 45GB via RTX IO. The game is 22 years old. An RTX Remix mod of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was also revealed.

GeForce NOW and RTX Spark

GeForce NOW is adding DLSS 4.5 controls, with Steam Machine and Steam Controller support to follow later this year, alongside GOG single sign-on and Firefox support. RTX Spark, the small form-factor PC arriving this autumn, picks up support from EA, Embark and Ubisoft — covering F1 25, Apex Legends, Anno 117: Pax Romana, ARC Raiders and THE FINALS — with native EA Javelin anti-cheat.

“Our teams build the game to be seen wide: full districts, long sightlines, thousands of details at once. Seeing RTX Spark hold that level of fidelity from a single chip is genuinely impressive.”

Stéphane Jankowski, executive producer of Anno 117: Pax Romana

Anno 117 is a strategy game built to render city-scale detail; Spark now claims to hold it on one chip.

A further eight titles were upgraded to DLSS 4.5 across the show, including AION 2, which launches in the West on September 30, and ANANTA. NVIDIA ACE creature chat comes to Aniimo in early 2027. All of it is on display in Cologne this week, and on NVIDIA’s site for the rest of us.

Which GeForce RTX GPUs support DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction?

All of them. DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction runs on every GeForce RTX GPU, from the RTX 20 series through the RTX 50 series. That sets it apart from Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which is limited to RTX 50-series cards.

How do I enable DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction?

Open the NVIDIA app, go to Settings > About and opt in to Early Access releases. Install driver 580.88 or newer, open DLSS Override > Model Presets for a supported game, set it to Custom and choose Recommended or Preset F for Ray Reconstruction. The full release follows in September.

What is GeForce NOW and does it get DLSS 4.5?

GeForce NOW is NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service, letting you stream PC games you own to PCs, Macs, phones, tablets and TVs. DLSS 4.5 controls for Super Resolution, Dynamic Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction are coming to members, alongside Steam Machine and Steam Controller support later this year.
