Does Clayface have a trailer yet?
DC Studios has released a new Clayface trailer that gives audiences their clearest look yet at the film’s unsettling body-horror direction. The official Clayface trailer follows Matt Hagen as an experimental treatment transforms his life and begins affecting his grip on reality.
The footage makes its intentions clear almost immediately: this is a horror story about a body becoming unpredictable. One particularly unpleasant plane bathroom sequence involves Hagen discovering that his eyelids are melting together, which our sister site IGN Middle East highlighted in its trailer coverage. Consider that your entirely sincere lunchtime warning.
Director James Watkins appears to be leaning into the character’s most disturbing possibilities rather than sanding them down for a conventional superhero adventure. The result looks markedly darker than Superman and Supergirl, with Clayface’s powers presented as a nightmare rather than a shiny upgrade.
What is the Clayface origin story?
Clayface follows Matt Hagen, a Gotham street kid whose rise to Hollywood fame ends when a crime boss’s actions leave him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by his team, Hagen seeks an experimental treatment that restores his appearance but also affects his mind, sending him towards revenge.
Tom Rhys Harries stars as Hagen, while Watkins directs from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. The trailer concentrates on Hagen’s transformation and escalating instability without revealing where his destructive path ultimately leads.
Clayface is a Gotham-based Batman villain, but this film belongs to James Gunn’s DC Universe rather than Matt Reeves’ separate Batman continuity. Robert Pattinson is therefore not expected to emerge from a suspiciously convenient shadow, and Gunn has yet to announce the DCU’s Batman for The Brave and the Bold.
The film was already established as a DCU project before this trailer. As our earlier coverage of Clayface’s place in the DCU timeline explained, its chronology adds another wrinkle to an interconnected universe that is still assembling its version of Gotham.
When is Clayface coming to UAE cinemas?
Clayface is currently listed for release in UAE cinemas on 22 October 2026, one day before its North American opening on 23 October. The UAE listing from Muvicinemas identifies the film as an English-language release.
The official trailer gives the wider international rollout as beginning on 21 October 2026, so dates may vary between markets. For UAE audiences, 22 October is the specific local date currently listed.
That timing lets UAE cinemagoers meet this version of Matt Hagen before North American audiences do. Based on the trailer, the sensible preparation involves avoiding a large meal beforehand. Clayface appears ready to give the DCU something genuinely nasty, and the character looks much more interesting for it.
