Kazan and Stuart will lead the creative team and executive produce alongside Thomas Tull, Jillian Share and Jen Gorton of Teton Ridge Entertainment, Jon Jashni, Diana Ossana and Curtis McMurtry of the McMurtry Estate. Ossana was McMurtry’s longtime creative partner and is also an executive producer on the series.
McMurtry’s novel was first published in 1985. It was adapted into a celebrated CBS miniseries in 1989, starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. Variety says that version drew 26 million viewers and led to further television adaptations of the books Streets of Laredo, Dead Man’s Walk and Comanche Moon.
