The Museum of the Future will close on 1 September for a major overhaul, and reopen in the first quarter of 2027 with a new generation of interactive and immersive experiences.

Why the Museum of the Future is closing

The museum has always positioned itself as a living institution rather than a static collection, designed to be reinvented as technology moves. This closure is that model in action: the existing galleries make way for fresh content built around the next wave of emerging trends.

The museum has not detailed what the new exhibits will look like, but has said the refreshed experience draws on ideas submitted by the public worldwide, following an earlier global call for input on its next chapter.

What you can see before it closes

Current exhibitions span artificial intelligence, space exploration, climate change, health and sustainability. The museum’s last-chance messaging has been clear, with its Instagram page telling people to visit before 1 September “to be part of this chapter”, as Arabian Business reported.

“Don’t miss your last chance to experience the Museum of the Future as you know it today. Visit before 1 September to be part of this chapter.”

What happens next

The site will be completely reimagined for the reopening, with the new chapter slated for the first quarter of 2027. It is one of the most photographed buildings in Dubai, and a fixture of the city’s tourism and innovation calendar.

The venue has hosted its share of launches — Huawei’s Pura 90s event, Nvidia’s Studio Nights, and Kia’s partnership announcement — and those move elsewhere while it is closed. Tickets and visiting times remain on the museum’s official site.
