Microsoft is holding a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on October 7, where it says executives will discuss how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC. Satya Nadella, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Microsoft Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri are scheduled to appear.
Microsoft Windows and Surface event: what is confirmed
The event invite gives the date and location but does not name a specific product launch. Microsoft says the discussion will cover Windows, Surface, Nvidia RTX Spark and the wider PC ecosystem, according to Engadget’s report. That makes the event broader than a routine Surface refresh, with on-device AI and the hardware needed to run it likely to sit at the centre of the presentation.

Microsoft’s last major Windows event was in May 2024, when it introduced Arm-based Copilot Plus PCs and renewed its Qualcomm partnership. The company also held a Windows 11 launch event in June 2021. The October gathering is the first major Windows-focused event Microsoft has announced in more than two years.
Could the Surface Laptop Ultra appear?
The executive line-up has fuelled speculation that Microsoft could share more about the Surface Laptop Ultra, a device previously linked to Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform. Microsoft has not confirmed that product for the event, so its pricing, specifications and release date remain unknown.
The RTX Spark angle would connect this announcement to Microsoft’s earlier work on [the Surface Laptop Ultra](/surface-laptop-ultra-128gb-ram-rtx-gpu/) and Nvidia’s [RTX Spark push for Windows PCs](/nvidia-rtx-spark-ai-chip-fall-2024/). It would also give Microsoft a way to show what local AI means when the model runs on the PC rather than in a distant data centre.
The Verge will cover the Microsoft Windows and Surface event live from San Francisco on October 7 at 10am PT, or 1pm ET. Microsoft has not yet announced a UAE livestream time or local product availability.
