How is Lenovo’s Esports World Cup role changing?

The announced change elevates Lenovo from an existing supplier to a Global Founding Partner with Legion hardware covering more of the event’s technical operation. Lenovo and the Esports Foundation announced the expanded agreement on 29 July, during the seven-week competition in Paris.

Players will use Legion Tower 7i and Tower 5i desktops alongside Legion monitors in competition arenas. Lenovo says its equipment will also support training facilities, broadcast studios, festival spaces, and fan experiences, although the precise configurations and number of devices deployed in 2026 have not been disclosed.

The partnership itself began before this announcement. According to Lenovo’s retrospective, more than 2,000 Legion devices supported tournament operations, broadcast studios, creator zones, and festival activations at EWC 2025. The 2026 agreement deepens that relationship by adding Founding Partner status and putting both Legion desktops and monitors on the competition stage.

Organisers say EWC 2026 brings together more than 2,000 players and 200 clubs from over 100 countries across 24 games and 25 tournaments. They also describe its $75 million-plus prize pool as a record, though that ranking remains an organiser claim rather than an independently verified comparison.

What can fans try at EWC 2026?

Fans attending EWC 2026 can demo Lenovo’s Legion Pro Rollable Concept and try other Legion devices in dedicated festival areas. The concept is a gaming laptop with a 16-inch PureSight OLED screen that expands horizontally to 21.5 inches or 24 inches.

Lenovo positions the expandable display as a way for travelling esports players to carry a standard laptop that can provide a wider screen for training. It remains a concept, and the announcement does not provide retail launch or pricing details.

The EWC appearance follows the laptop’s earlier CES showcase, where tbreak examined Lenovo’s rollable laptop concepts. At the Paris event, the Legion booth gives attendees a public demonstration opportunity rather than signalling a commercial release.

Lenovo also says its festival zones will include Legion laptops, tablets, and peripherals, with hardware offered through onsite challenges. Legion branding will appear across broadcasts, event spaces, and the Legion Gauntlet stage.

UAE shoppers can buy Legion 5 laptops locally, but those retail listings are separate from the Tower 7i and Tower 5i desktops named for EWC competition.
