GTA 6’s criminal profile system can reportedly crack and shatter if players repeatedly cause unnecessary mayhem, leaving the game to stop measuring their behaviour for the rest of that playthrough. The details come from a preview attended by YouTuber TGG and reported by IGN.
GTA 6 criminal profile has four known levels
The system, which Rockstar calls Criminal Profile, reportedly has four named states: Professional, Aggressive, Violent and Psycho. A separate unnamed state sits beyond them. It can begin to crack when players repeatedly go further than a situation requires, and eventually shatter if they keep doing it.

That does not mean every shootout pushes the player towards Psycho. A response can still be treated as justified: shooting an armed person who fires first reportedly has less impact than killing a helpless shop worker or escalating a robbery without cause. Complex also reported comments from Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson describing the system as a measure of unnecessary behaviour over time.
What happens when the meter shatters?
Rockstar reportedly told TGG that the unnamed state is difficult to reach and is partly intended for players who ignore the system altogether. Once it shatters, the game will reportedly stop tracking the player’s actions rather than continue pushing the profile towards another named level.
Jason and Lucia are said to have separate profiles, so the two protagonists can be played differently. Players can also turn off notifications about the system if they would rather not be reminded that their virtual crime spree has paperwork.
The effect on GTA 6’s story remains unclear. The preview reports do not establish whether Criminal Profile changes missions, relationships or the ending, and Eurogamer’s explanation similarly treats the system’s wider narrative impact as unconfirmed.
