General Motors Middle East is marking 100 years in the region this week, and the anniversary comes with the aftersales numbers to show for it. Its parts centre in Jebel Ali has delivered 13 million parts to nine countries over 15 years.
More than 1,500 technicians have been trained since 2008, roughly 1,000 service technicians are supported through GM Academy Dubai, and a customer engagement team has answered in Arabic and English for nearly 20 years.
General Motors Middle East: the parts story
The parts operation sits in Jebel Ali and serves nine countries and 15 dealerships, with tens of thousands of parts in stock. Holding key inventory close to dealers keeps vehicles on the road — the part of car ownership nobody notices until it stops working.
“Celebrating a century in the Middle East is a tremendous milestone, but our focus remains firmly on the road ahead. From our robust parts distribution network to our highly skilled, dealership-ready technicians, we are building an aftersales ecosystem that meets today’s needs and is fully prepared to support the next generation of connected and electrified mobility.”
Sajed Sbeih, customer care and aftersales director at GM
GM Academy Dubai
GM Academy Dubai trains and certifies the roughly 1,000 service technicians who work the region’s dealer network, in a blend of classroom, virtual and on-site sessions. The pipeline extends to GM’s Advanced Technician Training Center in the Philippines, which has graduated around 300 technicians in the past five years; applications doubled between 2021 and 2025. The curriculum is being reworked around connected and electrified vehicles.

What it means for the UAE
The UAE sits at the centre of this operation, not beside it. The parts hub is in Jebel Ali, GM Academy Dubai is the regional training base, and GM Africa & Middle East is headquartered in Dubai.
For owners, the practical effect is parts availability and trained technicians once the warranty runs out. The network has more to support: Chevrolet picked Dubai to trial a retail format that isn’t a showroom, and Cadillac has pushed five EVs into the region at once. GM says it has sold more than 4.5 million vehicles across the region in the past half-century, per its centennial release earlier this year.
