The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Skip the PlayStation Consoles

While Microsoft is open to sharing Call of Duty with other platforms after the Activision Blizzard buyout – with Xbox CEO Phil Spencer promising the franchise even for the Nintendo Switch – the company aims to keep Bethesda games under lock and key.

According to new documents from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) versus Microsoft trial over the $69b deal for Activision Blizzard, it seems that Bethesda’s next awaited RPG, The Elder Scrolls 6, will skip the PlayStation platform entirely and will release only for the Xbox and PC platforms.

The move won’t be unprecedented, as Microsft has kept almost every Bethesda game post-acquisition as an Xbox exclusive. This includes games like Arkane’s Redfall, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and even MachineGames’ upcoming Indiana Jones title, which is expected to be released only for the Xbox and PC platforms.

As for The Elder Scrolls 6, the document shows the release date as TBC, but the game is expected to be released sometime after 2026. It may also skip this generation of consoles, with Microsoft aiming to release its next console in 2028. Could Elder Scrolls 6 be a launch title for the next Xbox? It could very well be a possibility!

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced five years ago, with Bethesda Head of Publishing Pete Hines confirming that the game was still in early development and that we won’t be hearing about the game any time soon.
