Good news, everyone! The General Authority of Media Regulation has approved PlayStation’s Spider-Man 2 for release in Saudi Arabia.

According to a tweet from the censor board, the PS5 exclusive has been classified as a 16+ title “after the publishing studio approved the modifications required” by them. This suggests that the game will be released with some censorship; however, what those will be remains to be seen.

Spider-Man 2’s release was up for contention for the past few months after the game’s pre-order page was taken down from local PSN stores. The game was initially rated as a 21+ title, but it seems that Sony agreed to “modify” the game to an extent to help bring the age rating down by several notches.

There is no word if the game will also be released in the UAE, but if Sony has agreed to release a modified version, we would wager it should have no problem with the country’s censor board.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release on October 20, 2023, for the PS5. Insomniac recently shared that the game has gone gold, so we shouldn’t expect any delays.
